For me it's the Millenium Falcon. I also like the Tardis, but I'm not sure that it technically qualifies as a spaceship.

Morbid and creepifying I got no problem with, so long as you do it quiet like.

It travels through space and time, of course it's a spaceship. I'm with you on the Falcon, though I think I'd rather be in The Tardis, I get to travel with The Doctor with LOT'S of room to lay back.

Well i like the Tardis. but i think probably the Enterprise (the one in the TOS movies, you know with captain kirk (shut up trekkies, i know their's two ships, but they are the same class so sue me, i like 'em both and can't decide)) and also the Enterprise-E, and the Enterprise NX-01 (the one from ST: Enterprise).

Outside of Star Trek probably the Imperial Star Destroyer or the Mellenium Falcon. Depends on the size limit. lol.

I love the Falcon and the others mentioned above, but if I could have my own, I think it'd be one of those little ones that zoom over the Indiana highway in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Kind of the Toyotas of spaceships.

TRAVELER

Have you ever seen the Orbit Jet from "Rocky Jones Space Rangerrrrrrrr" television show. It was like taking the old V2 missles the Germans had in World War II and stretching it until it was very thin like a dart. It had four fins at the tail for landing and two about half way up. What those were for I really never understood. It made for a very sleek looking spaceship.

"Rocky I forgot my lines."

Moya's son from Farscape. An armed Leviathan. Ohhhhhhhh Yeah! Of course self aware is difficult to deal with occasionally, so second place goes to ST's Voyager. Made to be a heavily armed slugger at the end of the Kardasian war.

Sidebar rant
- The engineering staff at Paramount needs to modulate something other than the sheild harmonics.
- When the warp core goes offline, all of the computer systems need to slow to sublight operating speeds, and shed all non-critical processes.
- Loss of inertial dampeners should scare the go-se out of the entire crew. None of the chairs or fittings appear to be designed to handle more than 1.5G's. Wherever you are pointed, you will be going that way at your current velocity until the dampeners are back online.

Capital ship: The Andromeda Ascendant. Beautiful, brilliant, and utterly, completely lethal. Just the way I like my ships and my women. She also comes with:

The Eureka Maru, my favourite civillian ship. Combination freighter, scavenger, salvage cutter, and really overqualified shuttle. That said, however, the movie version of the Jupiter 2 is one of the only things that redeemed that movie. Beautiful curves.

For starfighters, I love variety. X-Wings were my first love, but I will confess a certain fondness for Babylon-5's Starfuries. Though, on a purely practical level, Andromeda's Slipfighters are still at the head of the pack.

Of course, being a big mecha nut, I have to give special preferences to Veritechs (especially the streamlined Macross Plus or Macross 2 versions) and Gundams (from the Seed continuity). Not terribly practical for non snub-fighter operations, but still marvels of engineering and technology all the same. Gundams aren't just weapons --they're works of art.

HAL is the ship's computer. The spaceship in 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY is called the Jupiter 2. I have to admit it was a pretty sweet ride, despite the fact that it was slow as all Hell, although the trip through the Star Gate (the real one, not the ones in the Stargate franchise or CONTACT) would make up for it.

Here's one no one mentioned yet. The Planet Express Ship from FUTURAMA.

"Oh for Heaven's Gate, Professor. This ship can do 99% light speed. Why are we going at 30 MPH?"

"Because we're in a hurry, that's why."

Oh I don't know, I love the 'Falcon for sure, but there are a lot of others that rank.

I suppose it would depend on what I was using it for really.

I mean, if I'm using it for military purposes I'd probably go with a Mon-Cal Cruiser or the new Galactica (Yes the Pegasus can kick more ass but the interiors feel lifeless.).

And then, you know, if I were out and about doing crime I'd probably go with the 'Falcon or the TARDIS (Come on, it's the ultimate criminal device.).

And finally, if I were out with the intention of just kicking around the galaxy in a big space Winnebago I'd probably go with Moya, the Sattelite of Love, or something similar.

Here's a site for those interested. You can move your favorite spaceships, including real spaceships, around to compare them with other genres.

http://www.merzo.net/

I've never been a Capital ship fan, I tend to like the fighters and shuttles/freighters. Probably why I liked Firefly so much. The ship has character, plain and simple.

Serenity is on there. It's fun to put the Falcon next to her (although I think the sizes for the Falcon seem too small)

Of course trust me to miss some. Also bringing people to space were the Vostok, Voskhod, and Voskhod-2. With a Vostok being the vehicle for the first manned space flight. Go Yuri.

Anyway that plus the shuttle and the X-15 piloted by Yeager should account for everything that's taken a human type person into space while still alive.

Edit: plus SpaceShipOne. Gah is my mind scattered or what? Don't answer that.

Hands down for me, it's the TARDIS. Infinitely big, indestructable, and no one can shoot you in there.

That being said, I will utter what could be utter heresy and mention an Alliance Cruiser, just becuase it is so damn unique in design. Joss really broke from the norm with his design of the big cruisers, and you see so little of them, they are really fascinating to see.

Of course, everyone inside of them sucks, I just think the concept of a floating city to be pretty cool.
