So, spoilers if you haven't seen it yet...

Wow, as always, several questions answered, more questions posed. I liked the episode and I'm glad that BSG has returned.

First off, in the beginning, I was totally mislead by Helo and Athena's talk, thinking that she was asking him to take a Raptor to the base star...the shot came as a surprise to me, but then I was like, "oh, that'll work too."

So the Diana cylon line has been "shelved" and she takes the final five cylon knowledge with her (unless it is preserved in her memory files). When she see's the final of the five, she says something like, "I'm sorry, I didn't know," implying that she recognized the fifth unknown cylon and that they had crossed paths in the past. Who has she mistreated that she would apologize? Gaeta perhaps?

And the Starbuck/Apollo thing wasn't really solved although I think while Dualla knows that Apollo didn't cheat, she realizes he still has strong reciprocated feelings for Starbuck.

The Eye ended up being the supernova, but I think we all knew that was coming. Baltar is back on Galactica, but I think Caprica Six being on Galactica too is definitely an interesting plot line. It looks like Athena will slip further away from the humans and maybe Caprica will earn human trust. Perhaps she can vindicate Gaius from a lot of the things he was blamed for on New Caprica.

Overall, I really like where this half season seems to be going, and I can't wait to see why Starbuck has the Eye of Jupiter image in her head...will she find Earth? Is Gaius a cylon? Could the women on this show get any hotter? Only time will tell.

SINGATE

This episode is definitely a step in the right direction, the last few before the break had me losing hope.

Looks like the chief and Starbuck are going to get the mystic treatment for the forseeable future. I'm getting the feeling that Kara may not be long for this world. That line she had about "my destiny has already been written" seemed to have a finality to it.

It was a nice twist having a Six back on board along with Baltar. I was actually surprised that Tigh didn't gun her down before she stepped foot on Galactica.

Things are looking up.

I read on a BSG forum that Kara(Starbuck)is killed off and taken out of the credits at the end of season 3.. I dont see how BSG can be without a Starbuck.. and Lucy Lawless is leaving!(guess she is moving off into her singing career...)

I don't believe rumours and I don't look at spoilers.

She might be useful, and Tigh doesn't waste potentially-useful "people." I am hoping they finally off Baltar next week. He's a waste of air.

Yeah, as soon as Sharon said that a Raptor wouldn't make it, I realized what they were contemplating. There's only one other way onto a Basestar.

Dammit chief. "I see something about a star, and some kind of explosion." I thought you had a brain.

As to the Final Five (sounds like an American Idol episode ), I'm thinking it might be related to the visions people are having. Wouldn't it be a kicker if Kara turns out to be a Cylon herself?

Katee Sackhoff's (aka, Starbuck's) production schedula ends after the fourth-to-last episode of the season -- a Starbuck centric affair called "Maelstrom". The fate of her character after this point is unknown, but executive producer David Eick has been reported saying that it is something we could never possible guess. Considering that the two things people guess first in BSG are "she dies!" followed by "she's a cylon!" it looks like she just might live yet.

It has been confirmed that a member of the credited cast will not be in the credits next season, but we don't know who. It could just as easily be James Callis -- after all, I mean, how could Baltar have any meaningful existance after this? Seriously, everyone alive is going to want to airlock his ass President Roslin style (especially president Roslin).

Onto the episode...

Wow. I think my favorite scene was the teaser act-out, when Helo shot Sharon. I didn't really get what they were talking about, and then when he shot her I was like "oh! the angst! and incredibly clever, too."

All and all, things were nicely resolved. I was a little disappointed we didn't get to see one of the final five, but then I really wasn't expecting to, anyway.

I am excited about the new Starbuck plotline. It's gotten off to an interesting start. I am not cursing the fact that I post at the somethingawful forums, since the folks over there figures out the starbuck's painting/eye of jupiter connection, like, the day that the last episode was aired in december. I can only imagine what a mind-fuck that would have been if I hadn't been sitting on the knowledge for a month.

Yeah, but every time someone says "you'll never guess" somebody guesses.

It's one of those phrases that the Universe interprets as a direct challenge, like "it can't get any worse" or "nobody would be so stupid as to. . ."

HERA7

I curious what do the Colonials do with the cylon bodies, especially with Sharon/7/Athena. Her body is dead, but she lives on in new one. The other Sharon/Boomer, they kept the body in cold storage to study, but I see that as disrespectful to the Sharon/Athena who returned to Galactica, who is very loyal to the ship and crew, despite having her child stolen and deceived by her leaders.

I don't expect a funeral, but I also don't expect a lab experiement or the body to be thrown out with the trash.

Along the same lines, I got to wondering how the Cylons treat the bodies of those who died but the body still exists. D'anna's suicides should of left a few of her bodies lying around the deck of the Basestar. I would expect the Cylons to just recycle the body, I don't expect they would have funerals or rememberances for their dead when they download in to a new body.

On another note, does it seem a little odd to me that SciFi is promoting Tricia Helfer's (Caprica, Number 6) layout in Playboy? She does have a great body, but I can not remember a network or TV show ever promoting one of their stars in a nude layout in a magazine like Playboy.

I just realized this is a death and sex posting. I should be in advertising...

Well I think that SciFi knows the demographic for the show. No, I'm not implying it's a bunch of guys looking for eye candy (although I think everyone enjoys the attractive actors). Basically, BSG is a darker, grittier show intended for more mature audiences...audiences that will either enjoy the Playboy pictorial or not care at all. Granted the SciFi publicity is sort of unusual, but I think it's because you wouldn't see ABC advertising a Lost star's pictorial for example because it has a wider age-encompassing demographic.

And what's with people wanting Baltar to die? I mean part of the appeal of his character, despite his flaws, is that it should be possible for anyone to attain forgiveness. It's like the farther he falls out of human graces, the more I wish for some great act of atonement on his part. There's a good man in there somewhere...

O.O!

You can't be serious, haha. Ok, ok, everyone has things they like and dislike about the show, but as someone said earlier, what's BSG without Starbuck (though I disagree with that one, she's a waste of air ;D). For me personally, I'm not sure how much longer I'd watch if Baltar was offed...and that's saying a lot, as BSG is one of my 3 favorite shows ever.

Thanks for the support on Baltar. I can't believe this thread has been dormant as long as it has been. Aren't there any BSG fans out there waiting to weigh in? Anyways, I can't wait until Sunday's episode...it looks like the Starpollo thing might be furthered as well as the Baltar storyline...did the teaser show him in a resurrection pod? Is that just and effort to mislead us? I can't take it!

Killing Baltar would be almost as bad as killing Adama. Baltar is one of the driving forces on the show. Yes, the ad makes it appear as though he is a cylon but I believe that it isn't to confuse the viewers, rather it is probably his own mind trying to rationalize the torture it appears he will be suffering at the hands of Galactica's crew.

I really hope the writers resolve this whole Starbuck/Apollo thing soon. This is one aspect of BSG that is starting to make it feel like a soap opera in space.

Yeah, the whole quadrangle deal is really getting to me, making it feel like a show of much lesser quality. I don't mind shippy stuff every now and then (it's part of "the human experience"), but this seems excessive and over the top...and it's eating way too much screen time. I've always hated Starbuck (beginning the mini series), but this subplot is really making me dislike one of my five favorite characters (Apollo). Oh well, that's life.
