SPOILERS for those of you late to the party (Like me)

The pilot was well-produced, had great cinematography, appropriately creepy music, and excellent sound effects (Which are all-important in a scary show!). It was a great intro to the brothers and their motivations. Dean carries most of the pain, as he actually saw what happened to their mom.
Sam is distancing himself.
Good show.

Wendigo. The actual thing wasn't as scary as I imagined, but the character developement was awesome. Now Sam is on board, having seen his girlfriend go in front of him. The brothers are united in a bond of loss. .
Still, good show.

Dead In The Water. Amy Acker!!! Cool! Very eerie and better than probably it should have been, given 'water' as a big bad. But Dean was great, and his emotional moments with the kid almost made me cry.
Getting hooked.

Of note: Kim Manners (director) produced and directed many eps of Brisco County, Jr.

Chrisisall, stuck on yet ANOTHER series

Congratulations on finally finding your way to Supernatural.

And there's plenty more scary to come, including one of the best "demon" visuals I've ever seen (both in terms of cinematography and in terms of a cheap, I-know-how-to-do-that special effect used in a creative and powerful way --no million dollar CGI needed).

You'll become even more addicted as you progress through the season.

I know you were looking for some fighting, so how did you like the brothers' reunion brawl in the opener?

If you enjoyed seeing Amy you'll be happy to here there are appearances by other Joss alum. Also, there are tons of other great guests any sci-fi geek is sure to recognize.

Wait until you see Hook Man, still one of my favorties.

You're right on about Dean. A lot of his sarcasm and witty remarks come from his repressing the pain he feels. Jensen does such a great job with the character. Dean is so much more dynmaic that he receives much more critical acclaim than Jared which is unfair. Dean gets most the best lines on the show.

"Ooh that fabric softener bear, I'd like to hunt that little bitch down."

"I should've burned a clip in him just on principle."

...and from last week's episode: "This is pretty friggin' weird even for us."

Keep enjoying!

It was rousing, albeit a little in the dark. But what I could make out was good. Jujitsu or Jeet Kune Do wrestling, it looked like.

Phantom Traveler. If you've ever flown, this one keys right into that fear of flying some of us have. The shaking and noise of the planes was particularly unnerving. Cool resolution, I almost didn't see it coming. Mini-rant: The deleted scene was deleted WHY?!?!?!?!?!?
I love the mini-movie feel of each ep!

Still impressed Chrisisall

Bloody Mary was gross. Like a Freddy movie (a good thing).

Skin was totally engrossing, and hearing Dean's thoughts about Sam (interpreted, but there nonetheless) was a little cutting- I don't think Sam took it to heart, though.

Hookman was cool! One of the best so far IMO. She called it on herself! Shades of Forbidden Planet.

The movie-quality of the series continues to impress me.

Trust me it keeps getting better. You're coming up on a few of my favorites, Asylum and Something Wicked. Not to mention the final three episodes of season 1. Hell, who am I kidding? There weren't many episdoes I didn't like.

In a lot of cases, the pilot is strong, and the series tries hard to live up to it, succeeding intermittantly- not here though, it started good, and seems to be getting better as they go.

Hey CIA

I've just finished watching the first season this weekend, and I really enjoyed the show. I wouldn't rate it as high as Buffy (which it can obviously be compared to) but it's still a great show.

The chemistry between the two leads is great and can make for some very funny moments, especially when one of them is trying to say something serious.

I like idea of taking a legend or movie baddie and then making something different out of it, or having it play out a different way.

Also the pop culture references are great:
Sam and Dean
Ford and Hamill
Ghostbusters (you'll see when you get there)
plus many more I can't remember.

And then the last couple of episodes.....

Enjoy it.

How did you like seeing Julie Benz as quiet, sympathetic, and full of faith? Quite a departure from her days as Darla.

That line Dean has about "that fabric softener bear" when he is in the hospital bed is one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Must have something to do with my hatred of Snuggle and the Pillsbury doughboy.

I had to fight off a Shadow; Dean and Sam didn't get rid of it all the way.

Route 666, Nightmare, Benders and Shadow were all excellent! Especially Benders, where they had to fight HUMAN monsters!!!! I love the way Sam's 'power' is progressing! And seeing their dad is freakin' me out!

This show RULES! Chrisisall

Hell House was the first ep I wasn't thrilled with, although the character interplay was, as always, excellent. And it WAS funny to see amateur versions of them.
Something Wicked was okay, and Provenance too. Even though these three eps are better than most TV, I'd say they might be among the weaker episodes for the series. Still, good show!

I felt the same way the first time I watched Something Wicked but my opinion changed after my second viewing. Seeing Dean resolve a deep seated childhood issue was quite poignant. His line at the end about how he wished Sam didn't know about the evil things in world puts an exclamation point on how protective he really is. I also liked the idea of a doctor being the thing in the dark.

I liked Provenance for the simple fact that a little girl is the serial killer. Don't remember seeing that angle before.

You're coming to the grand finale. The last three episodes are incredible. Make sure you post some reviews as soon as you're finished.

That's the thing, EVERY episode has character discovery or developement. And a laugh or two. This is definitly a keeper: I will watch 'em all over again.

Lloyd Bridges?

I loved the vampire ep, and the last two blew me away- however...I HATE cliffhanger endings!!!

I give most eps a 4 or 5 out of 5 *'s
I give the overall season story 3 *'s due to non-closure, a sense that I saw only part of a story here.

Is the second season as good?

Ooh, yes.

There's the resolution to the cliffhanger, a huge pile of character development that happens as a result, more clues as to the "big picture." . .

I forget, was the Roadhouse introduced in S1 or S2? Either way, there's a few new characters and plots introduced on that front.
