If you are in the U.S., and you are not watching the episodes early, DO NOT read this thread!

O
M
G!!

I just got finished watching Episode 18, and WOW!

While the episode itself was not extremely exciting, the jabs that the writers were taking at the SciFi Channel were phenominal!

Initially, I caught the comment Cam was making to TechSgt Sylar during the opening sequence and thought, "hmmm...I wonder if that was a jab?"

And then, heh heh, the dialogue between Carter and Jacix almost made me shoot Diet Coke through my nose! I looked at my wife and said, "Well, what do they have to lose?"

Even my wife, who doesn't care for Science Fiction had to sit there with eyes wide and jaw dropped. I thought it was awesome!

If you can't tell, I hate SciFi Channel for killing my show. While it had a longer run than our beloved Firefly, I just can never get enough Stargate: SG-1.

And that's my 2cents.

Being that this thread has absolutely no plot points revealed in it, I'm not sure why it's plastered with Spoiler warnings.

Because at some point, someone is going to talk about how Vala's dad sucks, or how they foiled the Jafa plan or some such, and I just wanted to be sure everyone was aware, right from the get-go, that spoilers may ensue.

I'm giving everyone ample opportunity NOT to continue reading if they don't want the episode spoiled. I'm just thoughtful like that.

Now, since you asked about 'em, here are the actual spoiling points I was making:

Select to view spoiler:

The first line of dialogue for the episode, you could hear hear Cam Mitchell saying, "They cancelled it, really? I hadn't even known the new season had started."
Obviously this was a jab at SciFi channel for the cancelling of the show.

And then there was this gem:

Select to view spoiler:

Jacix: "It's no wonder. I don't mind telling you I'm a bit disappointed in this facility. I was expecting...more."

Sam: "Well, at times, so do we. But the truth is, the Stargate program just doesn't get the support it used to from the people in charge."

Jacix: "Why not?"

Dr. Lee: "Eureka!! One down, 12 to go!"

Jacix: "That's too bad. After all your Stargate program has accomplished for this network of planets,I would think the decision makers would show it the respect it deserves."

Sam: *nods knowingly* "Yep."

At least they are getting their digs in, and I'm liking it.

A buddie of mine and myself have been talking lately about how it seems like the show is lacking story power. It's not as good as it used to be. Now wether thats because O'niel is gone or not I can't be sure. But it doesn't have the same oomph it used to.
Don't get me wrong I LOVE SG-1, I would like to see it do a few Movies before it goes completely away.

I think that's why SciFi has given up the ghost on continuing to fund more seasons. The majority of viewerss have spoken (both on-line and through the Neilson ratings) that the show is just not the same with out Richard Dean Anderson's character, Jack O'Neill.

I happen to be of the minority and have throughly enjoyed Claudia Black's witty and humorous character, Vala. While Ben Browder's character, Cam Mitchell, is ok (I think Ben is a good actor, however his portrayal of Cam is little different than his character on Farscape) he was unable to carry on where Jack left off.

I would seriously have enjoyed another 2 or 3 seasons of SG-1. But if you thought that the stories were left a little flat since Jack left, these last 10 episodes will probably be very dissatisfying to you. The last 10 episodes add alot more humor to the charaters that you might not expect (i.e. Teal'c's suggestion that the dragon's name might be "Puff"). While humorous, it takes a wide step around the character building that has been done for 10 years.

Don't get me wrong, if anyone is at all like me, they enjoy the individual stories for what they are - stories and fun entertainment. But if you seeking them to follow the story as it has been building up, you might be a bit disappointed. However I still encourage those who have enjoyed SG1 to watch the final 10 episodes. If anything to help bring closure to a long running series.

Also what season is this final one?

The final 10 Episodes are the last half of season 10. So if finding the episodes, they are 11 through 20. 20 will air sometime this week, I believe Tuesday, as the torret usually goes up Tuesday night.

My wife asked me the other day, "Since you've watched 'em all ahead of time, what are you gonna do when they air on SciFi?"

To which I replied, "Watch 'em again. Any questions?" heh heh

Oh, and to the question if Morena is in the Episodes:

The always awesome and hot Morena as Adria:

Unless you are downloading them, or are in the UK, you haven't missed them.

I realize that by posting the glowey-eyed Adria I may have gave a little away...but um...it's the only direction they could have gone, even if the series were going to continue for years to come.

I just find Morena incredibly talented and incredibly hot. And I just gave my wife a reason to be mad at me, after giving her a hard time (jokingly of course) about her oogling of Brendan Frasier's pics on IMDB last night.

Oh, and remember, I warned about spoilers in the title of the thread

SINGATE

Thought I'd bump this since the finale just aired here in the US.

Finale may be a bit misleading being that there is no closure. I'm guessing that's what the movies will be providing later in the year. On a side note, how is it Sci-Fi is willing to fund two feature length projects but cannot find enough money for more episodes? Don't movies, even direct to DVD, tend to cost more than television?

On to the show itself. I didn't have a problem with the episode other than nothing really gets resolved. Not a big fan of "turn back the clock so it never happened" as a plot device but it worked okay I guess.

There were two moments that had me on the verge of passing out due to laughter. Both occured while Carter was laying out how long they could remain stuck in time. 1)The facial expression Teal'c has after Carter says "3 months" is absolutely priceless. I don't ever remember Christopher Judge having that look through the entire run of the series. 2)Vala turning to Daniel "I'll go crazy and I'm taking you with me". Not sure if that quote is accurate but it was damn funny.

I didn't realize so many SG-1 fans don't like Vala. For my money she has been the highlight the past two seasons. Hell, her first appearance is one of the funniest episodes I remember and established immediately the on screen chemitstry between Claudia Black and Michael Shanks.

I completely agree on all points, Sin. I loved Claudia's character. I really liked Morena's character, and have paid a dear price on sg1archive.net for saying so.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I agree that the final episode really didn't give "closure", but then again I don't think it is supposed to. The first direct to dvd movie is already in post production and the second one has a script and is a go. If they are successful no doubt they will keep cranking out dvd movies.

The finale itself left me feeling a bit flustered. The Asgard are gone, just like that. Very anti-climatic and with no fanfair. It was a sad and traumatic goodbye to a race I really enjoyed throughout the series, but being only an hour long episode we did not have time to mourn their sudden and explosive passing.

The time bubble scenario was interesting and what transpired amongst the characters during all those years trapped was compelling, especially the long overdue relationship between Vala and Daniel. I kind of wanted to punch Daniel during his hurtful rant at Vala, even my wife was saying he was being a jerk.

I like Vala as well. I think she has been the comic relief for the show and the character who thinks outside of the box for SG1. Though I doubted her at first, she has proven to be a contributing member of the team.

I kind of figured they would go with the reverse time to avoid death thing, which was fine I suppose. The fact that Teal'c was trapped in a time bubble so that he experienced all of those 50 years trapped in time w/ SG1 and is now back with the team who are unaware of those experiences makes for some interesting character interaction and hopefully will be played out in the future dvds.

I just knew the last scene would show SG1 walking through the gate. That is how it should end, showing that the adventures continue, with or without Sci Fi channel.

I'm not a fan of Vala or Cam, either. Cam could simply be the replacement factor, but it really did feel like it took the show in a very different direction (although not as much as Landry seemed to - another casting choice I've not been impressed with at all). Vala just gets on my nerves. It's almost as if every time she talks I want to change the channel - but then I remind myself that I'm watching SG-1, and I care about the story more

I do enjoy Adria and the Ori as a storyline, though. Unfortunately I don't see how they're going to wrap things up in a single movie. It makes me shudder to think.

Oh, and the finale. As an episode, not even considering it as a finale, the whole thing felt rushed and awkward. I had really high hopes going in to the episode, and I guess that's almost always a formula for disaster, but I was really let down overall.

Just an opinion,
Amiton.

SICKDUDE

First off, I really like Cam and Vala. Although I miss O'Neill, I think they work well on the show. Truthfully, the ones I cannot stand are Landry and his daughter.

As to the finale, I liked it. Not as much as "Threads", which should have been the finale back when they thought season eight would be their last, but it was good. I liked the way their predicament was an allegory for the Asgard's. Both in a long, drawn out no-win situation that they use unnatural means to prolong, but are still unable to find a solution. I kept thinking, "After fifty years trapped in a can, why don't some of them kill themselves? Only Carter is needed to 'save the day'." But that was the difference, the Asgard eventually gave up and accepted their fate, SG-1 did not. Plus I liked it because it was one of only a few good Teal'c moments in the whole series when they showed what stuff he was made of....

Lastly, I still don't see it as Scifi pulling the plug on Stargate. Quite the opposite, I see it as Scifi begging and pleading the show producers to keep making more, long after the cast and crew are tired of doing it. I feel Scifi would have been happy to have it go on even longer. And I think the decline in quality was not because RDA left, but because they split their writing talents between SG-1 and Atlantis. Has anyone else noticed that the last three or so Atlantis episodes were markedly better?

I have to admit I didn't really like the finale. It seemed to drag in the middle... and I normally like these kind of 'what if' episodes. It felt like the episode was a condensed version of a cliffhanger season finale/season 11 premiere. But that could just be me.

I also really liked the addition of Cam and Vala, I just wished they would have done more with Cam. The writer/producers/whoever seemed to be trying so hard to write Cam so that he wouldn't be too much like O'Neill or Crichton that they forgot to develop the character at all. The were episodes in season 9 where the poor guy had hardly any lines.

Vala, on the other hand, got all the best lines. And I loved the chemistry between her and Daniel - their scenes in the finale made it worth watching.

Cam is okay, though he seems like a younger more hip O'Neill instead of a different character. Honestly I don't dislike him, but he doesn't really add much to the show for me either.

I miss Jack too. Wish Richard Dean Anderson would have stuck it out, but I respect his wanting to leave. Would have made for a far better show if he had stuck it out.
