ACRAZYIVAN

I've just started watching Battlestar Galactica (finished season 2 this past weekend) so if the answer to this comes in season 3, just let me know that and don't say any more.

I was wondering if I missed some explanation about who the picture is of that hangs in the ready room. It plays more of a part in season 1, lots of the pilots kiss their hands and touch it, it hangs in the president's office. It looks to be a silouette or something. Did I miss something, or is it yet to be explained?

Also, thanks to all the Browncoats whose posts about BSG convinced me to watch it. It's an amazing show and I'm recruiting all the Browncoats I know to watch it too.

Keep on flyin'

ya, I've wondered about that one too, but the theory that I found was that its a picture of someone looking over the devastation on Caprica, so its a reminder for them of home. Made sense when I read it. And ya, BSG is a very good show, I've really enjoyed it. Though I've also started to get into Farscape (just a bit after it came 'round...)

did Nathan go to your university? No? Well he went to mine ;)

LWAVES

Big big fan of this show.

I don't think it's ever been explained.

I always liked to think it was from the original Cylon war (back in Commander Adama's younger days).
Maybe a hero or someone like that and that they touched it for good luck or karma before going into space.

Hopefully they'll bring it back in occasionally and explain it before the end (whenever that may be).

The picture is explained in one of the deleted scenes on the DVDs, either Mini-series or early first season. It is the only time I can remember with a good close up on it.

I don't remember all the details, but it was taken by a photographer on a planet (not Caprica) during the evacuation during the Cylon attack. It was presented to Roslin, but there is no mention of a copy being hung in Galactica's pilot ready room.

I always thought it was a picture of a pilot from the Colonies during the first war with the Cylons, overlooking the devastation of a Cylon attack. It makes sense to me that it would be a popular image (think Iwo Jima as an equivalent) that is readily recognized and available. It would be something that people would have had to remember the war and those lost even during peacetime (or when it was peacetime). Just my take, but if the picture is explained in the deleted scenes then I could be off.
