#1 sounds like Quantum Leap. #2 sounds like Jake 2.0. And #3 is an actual remake.

I was going to say the exact same thing. lol

Obviously Earth's entertainment has been all used up. Time to leave and find a system with a bunch more entertainment.

I'll take rehashed sci-fi over more reality shows any day. I just hope they don't overdo it in the wake of Heroes success. Speaking of which there is supposed to be some sort of spinoff called Heroes: Origins. I pray they don't run this franchise into the ground.

Heroes: Origins isn't actually a spin-off. What they are doing is instead of the normal 24 episodes, next season they will have 30 episodes. The extra six will be called origins episodes. They will be stand-alone episodes to introduce a new character and their back-story in the heroes universe, but not be tied to the main story arcs (although a main character may pop up here or there). There will be some form of interactivity to it, in fans will get to decide which character of the 6 will then join the main cast in season 3. It is kind of like the reverse of the Nicki/Paolo episode on Lost. They will start off on their own, and whoever is the most popular will then be added, as opposed to adding someone in the main story, then coming up with a back story for them and then finding out they are unpopular!

They haven't decided if they will put the origins episodes in the middle break or after the season is over. They have said they will not pepper them throughout the season though.

Nikki and Paulo were there from the beginning.

I love Hereoes. I love it with a passion. Not like I love Firefly, but I'm so happy to have an exciing interesting show to watch that's new.
But... sounds like they're introducing a bit of reality tv to it with allowing fans to interactively choose which new character gets folded into the main story arc.

Heroes Idol anyone?

I guess you could describe it as that. But personally I find it to be a great way for fans of the show to influence the show. It's a good symbiosis of the creators and the audience, which is something that people have been striving for for centuries.

As per the other sci-fi shows for next season, so what? I second the guy who says he'd rather watch warmed over sci-fi than another night of DEAL OR NO DEAL. And it is all about execution, rather than concept. There's only about six stories in all of literature, it's how you tell the stories that count.

Besides, the one new show of NBC's that I'm more interested in is it's sole comedy THE I.T. CROWD. Could have potential of being a good counterpart to THE OFFICE.

I don't disagree on any particular point RR. Just sayin'. It should be interesting and it ties fans to the show a la Idol. If a formula works why not use it? And oh how that Idol formula works.

I'm watching the Twilight Zone marathon on SciFi as I'm typing this. Warmed over? I'd say! It's on here in my office.
I have several customers glued to it as well.
I agree wholeheartedly about the scifi shows. They are what I seek out on the schedule and hope will intrigue me. I'll watch all the new ones and give them a chance.

Hmmmmm.... Don't know how I feel about Chuck... I mean, it's so OBVIOUSLY a Jake 2.0 clone that it's almost funny... I'd much rather have the old Jake 2.0 back, and I will be very very angry if people enjoy it this time around and think it's so "original" unless, of course, it somehow manages to get Jake back on the air

I guesse you never heard about the Heroes 360 game in which fans signed up to some sites NBC put up can interact and help in some small ways. During the shows fans are left clues, some from Hana asking for help to bring down The Company, some from Hiro's blog, some from Claire's blog (a fan on The 9th Wonders board got an automated call from Nathan Petrelli during the show) some from HRG. And the fans that played 360 got their names listed (user names) on the last page on of the novels(online comics) If you look Hana is standing with her head up and there are names brightly lit going by. A lot of people from The 9th Wonders Board are on there.

Then there are the online commentaries by cast and crew during the show, but it's for American audiences only (damn. Hope that's included in the DVD's)

And the only way the first show can work is if it's a spin off of 'Hiro and Ando's Crazy Adventures.'

No, MisstressSahara, I sure hadn't. I haven' been able to take part much in the online community surrounding Heroes. Actually your comments have given me more insight into what's going on online than anything else I've seen.

So it seems they've been interactive all along.

Well, good on them. It's worked.

And please don't mistake my comments to appear to be disapproving because they're not. What works, works.

I love Heroes and will continue to enjoy it no matter what. As long as they continue to engage me with the characters, I'm there.

Heck, I'm even back into Lost after last week. Who'd a thunk it?!!

Yeah, Lost is brilliant right now. Amazing second half to the season.

Well actually Nikki and Paulo first showed up in the episode "A Tale of Two Cities" which aired October 4th, 2006. Since the seires started in 2004, I'd say they weren't there since the beginning.

Of course, this is just going off of what was listed in the credits. It's possible they could have been in the pilot episode and just not credited if their camera time was so small.

They weren't hired until season 3, and just kind of showed up out of the blue. There was a huge backlash from fans about the way they added these two people and tried to pass it off like they had been there in the background. It was very poorly executed and Heroes is trying to avoid the same mistake by doing things in the opposite order:

Introduce the characters first, find out which ones are most popular, then add the most popular one to the main story from that point forward.

Lost added them to the main story first (and pretended they were there all along), found out they were unpopular, then introduced us to them, then killed them off.

Your so right about that, if you look at the first episodes Genesis and on you'll notice that the man who plays HRG (Mr Bennet) is listed as a guest star. According to Coleman his character was not going to be as involved in the show, he'd only be playing a minor background character, but his popularity became so HUGE amoung fans that the PTB realized the potential they had in him and slowly brought him up from guest star to one of the main stars (and even giving him his own stand alone episode that to this day I can only watch if I'm in a not so weepy state). The creators and writers read all the fan boards and know where the wind blows, that's why some characters were given more air time (Peter, Nathan, HRG, Sylar, who was also just going to be more of a scarey behind the scenes villian till they brought in Zack Quinto and he brought a vibrancy to the character) and many were let go (Eden, Simone, Issac) Kring is smart in LISTENING to his fans (very much like Joss) and that's why Heroes is so good, it's one of the rare shows that make viewers be able to see themselves in these situations.

Sorry, just I hear Heroes and my fangeekiness spins off.
