I am not pleased that CBS canceled Jericho, but they do have a new Sci-fi show:

Moonlight (Friday Nights at 10:00)
Drama

Premise: A vampire for 60 years, Mick St. James works as a private investigator, dealing with the difficulties of immortality, a slew of undead adversaries and his love for a mortal woman.

Stars: Alex O'Loughlin ("The Shield"), Amber Valletta ("Premonition"), Rade Sherbedgia ("24"), Shannon Lucio ("The O.C.")

Studio: Warner Bros. TV

Producers: Gerard Bocaccio, Joel Silver ("Veronica Mars"), Rod Holcomb ("The Lyons Den"), Ron Koslow ("Birds of Prey"), Trevor Munson

-------------------------------------------
The rest of the schedule looks like bunk, especially Viva Laughlin, which is about a man's dream of opening a casino but has troubles from friends, family, and he is involved in a murder investigation. For some reason, This show will be a musical, and is produced by Hugh Jackman and the guy who did the Grease reality show. Blech!!!!

By the way, I would have done one of these posts for ABC's line up with Sci-fi ties, but they don't have any shows with Sci-fi.

Hehehe, Patsrule. I believe it was actually zap2it.com who noted, with much snark, something like "We enjoyed this show a lot when it was called Angel.

I love how they talk about the long mid-season hiatus, then immediately say that it's the shows' fault for "not performing."

And yeah. The Angel ripoff is "another one of a handful of high-concept ideas networks are trying out next year."

'Cause a Vampire PI has never been done before.

(Yeah, I know about Forever Knight, but Joss never claimed he was being wildly original with Angel.)

I think I'll watch Angel, no commercials, Joss' genius and it is already longer than one season.

ETA: Any new shows on NBC with sci-fi overtones?
Or is their announcement for the new season not up yet?

NBC did their presentation on Monday. I put up another thread just on that, but yes, they did have a few sci-fi shows, including The Bionic Woman remake, Chuck (similar to Jake 2.0) and Journeyman (similar to Quantum Leap/ Sliders).

I think Fox is today and CW is tomorrow.

1. Bionic Woman- Remake; whatever - but has Katee Sackoff from BSG as a returning bad girl bionic adversary to the lead.

2. Chuck- Adam Baldwin's new show, but it sounds like a carbon copy of Sci-Fi's Jake 2.0

3. Journeyman - Guy goes back & forth through time, helping people. (Redeeming quality- stars Kevin McKidd *drool* from HBO's Rome.)

EDIT: We posted at the same time, Patsrule!

Amazing timing!

I do need to add that on ABC, Lee Pace from Wonderfalls will be starring in Pushing Daisies, which isn't exactly sci-fi, kind of close, but closer to Medium:

PREMISE

As a child, Ned discovered that he possesses the rare gift to restore life to dead things -- and people -- with a touch. Now grown-up, Ned puts his power to good use, helping an investigator solve murders by reviving the victim and asking the deceased to name the killer. Things get complicated, however, when Ned brings his childhood sweetheart, Chuck, back from the dead with the intention of keeping her alive. There's just one big snag: If Ned ever touches Chuck again, she goes back to being dead, for keeps.

According to that story "Close to Home" is a comedy. I must have really not gotten that show.

MICK? Sounds a lot like NICK...as in Nick Knight. Vampire, investigator/detective (close enough), dealing with problems of immortality, undead bad guys, love with a mortal...sounds an awful lot like FOREVER KNIGHT. Gee, it does look like CBS is just reusing it's old material (FORVER KNIGHT was on CBS before it became syndicated after the first season).

The first thing that came to me was ANGEL! Lordy, Lordy Lord. They think with their asses, don't they?

THIS is what's scaring me:

Musical? MUSICAL! On Prime Time they're making a weekly musical drama? And Jackman of all people is producing it? Did his career take THAT much of a nose dive? OMG. Save us from sinners and fools. Or just the fools cause they have a longer lasting impact.

I'm sooo dissalusioned.

Actually, a Hugh Jackman produced musical could be all manner of awesome, at least in terms of "WTF were they smoking to come up with this?!?"

Could be entertaining. . .

I remember a Canadian program that had a vampire detective. I can not remember the title. But it was before Angel. I'll try and look it up.
