STRANGEBIRD

Not sure if this has been discussed but seeing as it involves Adam Baldwin's best role since Jayne "The Hero of Canton" Cobb I thought it a good thing to remind you all. On January 24th at 7:00 and 9:00CST are two all new episodes of Chuck. I've heard at least one focuses heavily on Casey, and his past, so all you Adam Baldwin fans rejoice! WOOT! I'm all hopped up on antihistamines and caffeine!

Anywhatzit if your not into the show yet check it out. It's easily tied in my book for best new show of this season, along with Pushing Daisies.

Also I personally will be watching an episode of Firefly while they show that pathetic excuse for programming between the new episodes. One day we will triumph and drive out the woefully agonizing, mind-drainingly idiotic menace that is "reality" TV. Like any enemy some might not be so terrible but they are all in it together and we mustn't forget who we are fighting. We'll fight until there's not a man or sissy boy or ugly girl who just looks like man standing! MUHUHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!

Annnd I got myself wayyyy of topic as usual. Anyway remember there's lotsa new Chuck this Thursday, people.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Good news. Heard about these two new episodes on a podcast over the weekend. Seems they'll be playing back to back on the 24th. After that......well guess that depends on the strike.

Great show!

Huh. Well only info I can find on them states they air before and after an episode of Celebrity Apprentice. I guess they might have changed the schedule though. They seem to be doing that a lot at the drop of the hat since the strike. Seriously I hope they didn't I was planning to watch either Jaynestown or Ariel in between.

P.S. Either way NBC is stupid to put both eps on the same night. On a Thursday no less. They should have scheduled them in on two consecutive mondays.

Agree completely about NBC being stupid! Why burn up all your new shows on one night? Especially when they aren't back-to-back?

I believe those are the only two episodes out there yet to air, too, so once that night is done, Chuck is done. Officially.

Plllllleeeeezzzzzzeeee no more writer's strike...

The bright side being once the strike is over and the writers get a better deal(one way or another even if it's only slightly) Chuck will definitely get a second season. Unless of course for some major travesty. NBC by all accounts loves Chuck, though they did claim to love Journeyman too, and a second season seems so likely I'd bet half what I have in my current checking account.... so half of nuthin'...

That would be 8 and 10 p.m. eastern and pacific. Hope they show the repeats soon.

I can't wait. Chuck is so good I can't help but to snicker every time I enter Best Buy and pass by the Geek Squad counter.

Have to agree that Chuck and Pushing Daisies are the two best new shows this year. I was hoping the Bionic Woman would also be good, but alas, after the first four episodes it started sliding into mediocrity and I think it's been cancelled now. Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles is also very good so far. Can't wait for BSG to come back.

Terminator:SCC is pretty good. Not completely impressed but it's too early to judge it yet. I stuck with BSG for a whole season before I decided I didn't really enjoy it. BSG is good but so not my cup of tea. Awesome CG effects though. I sorta had a suspicion Bionic Woman would sink. Oddly though I feel it failed more from the lack of any talent, acting or anything else, then from bad concept. Journeyman was a victim of poor advertising. Which goes to show even a good show with a great(I dare say amazing for the leads) cast in a decent time slot you still have to advertise, advertise, advertise. It's one show I will be putting right next to Firefly on my shelf... if it ever makes it to DVD. I cried when they canceled it... not kidding. Just a little, and I was sick and not myself so it's excusable.

Anyway I too grin somewhat goofily every time I pass anything related to Best Buy or Geek Squad. I really want a Nerd Herd shirt.... I wonder if Blue Moon Stuff will ever make one...

Even though it's a stupid mistake on the part of NBC I still can't wait for the new episodes!

This is pure conjecture, but a plausible (?) explanation for the double airing:

I heard that Apprentice is not getting good ratings despite the celebrity cast. Could it be that they are using newcomer and hit-show, CHUCK, to help boost ratings for Apprentice?
Perhaps by airing a new CHUCK episode before and after, they're hoping viewers will stick around for Apprentice in-between.
If that's the case, it doesn't look good for Apprentice. Every reality show that's off the air makes my day just a little bit brighter.

I believe American Gladiators is now in Chuck's timeslot so they wanted to see how it would do on Thursdays (and in turn attract people to Celebrity Apprentice). However, LOST and Supernatural return on Thursday, January 31, so they are making sure to get done with Chuck before that.

It might have helped had they aired a good Chuck episode prior to Apprentice.

Important people don't do field work.

I liked both episodes, but, the first was a little lacking, and Chuck himself was wildly out of character.

Also, I don't really like Casey with any romantic tie ups. He's at his best when he's antagonizing everyone around him, especially Chuck.

The episode where Chuck blows his car up...f'n priceless, man!

What I like about Adam in Chuck is all the subtle firefly tips of the hat that he manages to work in. One earlier episode he made a statement something like "what, is she going to hurt me with her mind" ! That was priceless, but not the only one. The way he worked "shiny" into the conversation that took place when he was washing his car, you could tell that word was chosen on purpose. An in the first of the 2 episodes last night, when he was about to ring the neck of Morgan, he said something like "If you mention her name again, I will end you !". No way that "will end you" line would be placed into the dialog if not for the intentional Firefly reference (Mal in Safe - "by my pretty floral bonnet, if you hand touches metal, I will end you").

Adam really likes to do this. He also did this kind of thing in his last short-lived series Daybreak, where he made a statement about watching some space western tv show over the weekend while talking with his police colleagues, or some situation like that. Great to see how much the cast still shows love for Firefly whenever they get the chance.

We all know the entire cast loves Firefly. Personally I think Adam loves it as much as the most insane fan.

I enjoyed both episodes tonight(ROFL Last night... I'm loopy today). The first one did have one or two moments where Chuck was maybe overacting a little but to say he was out of character wasn't really fair. For one thing I wasn't aware you were involved in the writing and directing of the series? Also it's always been the tone of the series to go a little overboard, though this particular one went a bit further than usual. And really if they put the best episode on first it would reward all the idiots who didn't stick with it. Or only watched last night for the Apprentice. Either way I loved them both and laughed my ass off when they went out the window. Even though that was sooooo predictable. Still it was hilarious. Also I loved seeing Adam in love. Seriously he gets typecast as the brooding, dark, violent, antagonistic tough-guy so much he needs to get a little bit of romance on screen! Sure he plays those characters better than any other actor out there right now but everyone needs a little love.

Well here's to a short, desirable end to the strike so we can get more Chuck, Morgan, Sarah, John, Ellie, Awesome, Big Mike and the rest of the goofy lovable gang.

I loved both episodes. Over-the-top is what I love about CHUCK.
I think they may be trying to add depth to Casey. After all, the longevity of their show will depend on their ability to add multiple layers to their characters. Otherwise it might get stale.
Not many shows make me laugh out loud like CHUCK.
Great lines:

Select to view spoiler:

Casey swings Chuck around to kick a Russian mobster. Fraidy-cat Chuck says, "How ya like me now?"

And how 'bout their little nod to all us 80's children:

Select to view spoiler:

Ellie wakes up to find Morgan in her bed. Morgan yells, "Damn, Ma! I got my headgear on!"

I remember when Anthony Michael Hall was everyone's favorite geek. Not everyone's favorite brooding psychic.

I can't wait for Chuck to return.

I like him too but I never really liked the Dead Zone. He's ok in it but a couple of the actors are so bad I'd rather have my wisdom teeth taken out again.

Anyway I love this show and every single thing about it. I have yet to see something and think "oh that was sorta stupid." It's not always perfect but it's one of my favorite shows. In the top five definitely.

Does that seem right to you?

... Um that's sorta what we have been saying. No one really knows exactly why they decided to throw them both out there on the same Thursday night but either way they did. And with far too little advertising. They had better reshow them before they begin to air new episodes...

And what was with the More Chuck Soon? At the end of the last episode they put up something like that. Perhaps if the Strike ends very soon we may just get more in the next couple months or so. Maybe a decent Season 1 finale?

So, people who won't watch a bad episode are idiots?

It's just my opinion, and I'm glad people are enjoying their tv shows, but when I hear statements about how great some of these current shows are, I believe people have gone too long without watching their Buffy/Angel/Firefly dvds.

Yes the first episode was the weaker of the two but it had a lot of great Adam moments. I enjoy Chuck quite a bit more than Buffy or Angel. Neither show ever interested me or impressed me even after watching many episodes. It's no Firefly but Chuck's one of the best shows on TV at the moment... which considering the competition isn't a difficult feat I admit. It's still a lot better than most of the shows that have premiered since Firefly. On any network.

Anyway by idiot(probably too strong a word) I meant the people who only tuned in to watch Chuck because it was on before The Apprentice and who didn't stick around for the second episode.

I'm sorry some of you don't like them giving Adam anything else to do besides shoot and bully people(Which he is very good at) but as it turns out he's damn good at being a person too. I loved that he showed his vulnerable side to Chuck, to some degree. It will make it even more interesting if/when the order to kill Chuck ever comes his way.

I completely agree that there's a bunch of crap on tv, and I don't even have cable! There's only one show I currently watch that I would miss, and that's Supernatural. It has the long story arc that is so rewarding. The other shows are just snippets in time, and don't carry themselves so well from one episode to the next.

I think the first episode was definitely Chuck's worst so far. I was doing some mindless paperwork at the time so who knows. Did I not enjoy the episode because I was doing paperwork, or was I doing paperwork because I didn't enjoy the episode?

I happened to catch a season 1 rerun of Buffy (the pilot even, I think) during season 2. I started watching Angel during season 3, but caught up on DVD. I had watched a couple episodes on tv, and thought it was too dark and brooding!
