LWAVES

Saw this as part of Empire magazines regular series of Top Ten lists, although they only list the ten worst sidekicks and mention their favourite.

So I'd thought I'd post it here to see what response it got.
Not asking for ten either. List as many or as little as you want from any genre.

For faves I would begin with:

Alfred from Batman.
Absolute loyalty and trust right down the line, and not afraid to question Bruce Wayne when he knows he's wrong.

The cat from Hong Kong Phooey.
Always saved the day, never got the credit. Just what every mild mannered janitor needs.

R2D2 from Star Wars
In particular I am referring to the OT for this one. So cute, so determined and guaranteed to make you go Aaahhhh every time he got hurt. Not bad for an 'overweight glob of grease'.

And the worst:

Any film or TV show where the sidekick is an animal. Especially if they talk to them like they're human, and they understand. I make a notable exception to this for Brisco and Comet, they are just too cool and funny.

Robin from Batman.
Especially the Schumacher movies. Camper than the 60s TV show. But if they followed the comics and went female....

I'm worried about Indy's sidekick in the latest movie (haven't seen it yet), But I'd put Short Round near the top of my list. And Connery, of course. And Salah from Raiders...

Finn was a good Buffy sidekick.
