I'm gonna be very un-PC here and re-state how much I liked Indy & the Crystal Skull

The 'PC' thing to do would be to TRASH anything Lucas even breathes on, much less produces, but gorram it, Crystal Skull was SO MUCH FUN!!! So what if Lucas messed up the SW franchise, Indy still rocks!! I think the hardcore geeks (I include myself here) need to just chill on the Lucashate, let go of the Darkside, & enjoy what is probably Indy's last real adventure.

And regarding the fridge scene:

"Fanboys, cover your eyes- cover your eyes!!!"

You were named after the dog?
So is Sonisall called Mutt?

I'm not gonna get into this debate again and I am genuinely glad you liked KOTCS, along with all the others that did. You know my view and I'm sticking to it. I will just add this that I don't think I added before. From a story POV I saw absolutely no reason to go back to the franchise. Crusade finished the story of Indy for me on a nice note. They should have left it alone.

I personally don't hate Lucas and I like the prequels (for the most part), even with their shortcomings. They don't match the OT by a long, long way but then what does? And I'm not counting Serenity coz that's in a league all of it's own.
Too many people were expecting a 'life changing' film when Episode One came out, and when it wasn't they reacted badly.

I am so chilled right now that you could say I was freezing.
The central heating has decided to throw a mood and not work which is great as it's really cold outside, really cold inside - and getting colder by the minute.
Oh well....

I just watched ALL FOUR movies in the last few days with my son (again), & the result? I felt a strange sense of balance in the Indy saga that somehow just wasn't there for me previously with just the three flicks...maybe it was ending it with Marion, as I felt they should have in Last Crusade, or hearing Indy mutter "This is intolerable!", or that nice bit about reaching an age where life stops giving us things and starts taking them away...or just that the end of Indy's last adventure was so *BIG*...despite the gap 'twixt Crusade & Skull, I just feel the whole thing is somehow more complete.
But I realize your (& other's) mileage probably varies on this idea.

BUT- nice to hear that you haven't just hooked yourself to the "I Hate Lucas and all the Ewoks he rode in on" bandwagon.

I don't hate Lucas. I happen to strongly dislike The Phantom Menace, mostly for reasons of poor writing and story structure, and I was highly dissapointed in KOTCS, for basically the same reasons, to a lesser degree.

NO... They raped Indy and we stood there and did nothing!!! We did NOTHING!!!!

How can I live with myself, knowing that Spielberg and Lucas are still out there, ready to rape again?

Yeah, I actually liked it.

No way!
Even the 'nuke the fridge'?

Jebus, I've watched it EIGHT times since I bought it.
Interesting sidebar: when you get the settings on the TV just right, it really is beautifully photographed as well (setting the sharpness down to zero seems to soften it to the level of the other movies (when they're at the normal setting) on my TV- the 21st century pixily look sorta goes away).

*psst* Chris, you're supposed to turn down the sharpness for all movies when watching on DVD. The sharpness setting is for VHS and "soft" cable/broadcast signals.

No way dude, sharpness up to & including 50% brings out lots of cool detail in DVD's, especially in flicks made before digital FX were widely in use (in MY TV, at any rate- my bro-in-law says my TV looks bettern' some HD ones he's seen)...but then, I DID shop for a YEAR before choosing...detail & an absolutely TRUE black black were my highest considerations.

C'mon Chris, you are really going to get behind Crystal Skull? It was a sad shadow of a story compared to the orginial films. Matt and Trey with South Park did a whole episode about it that pretty much summed up everything.

Quoted from South Park, Jimmy sits on a park bench with a far away look.

"Stan. The scene when Indy got in the fridge. It...It..." Pause to see a tear leak from his eye as he whispers "....It just didn't make any sense...."

Yup. The entire adventure was trite and stupid. I felt like I was watching a Jar Jar movie. The magic of Radiers is long since over.

And also, you're not being un-PC at all. It's the anti-establishment geek community that rejected Lucas in 1999 in the first place.

Do not fear me. Our's is a peaceful race and we must live in harmony.

Sorry, we don't agree on this one chrisisall.

I wanted to like this movie, but overall it was a major disappointment.

1. I didn't like the kid. Seemed too much like "I've seen this all before". Very "Wrath of Kahn", with Kirk meeting his son David. Hard to believe, but Star Trek did it better! Even if it was all shot in one room!

2. I hated the Aliens From Another Dimension idea. All the others dealt with religion and the supernatural, and now, just because it takes place in the 50s, it has to be about UFOs?

3. I hated what they did to Marion. In the original movie, she was Indy's equal. "We're goddamn partners!", and she really was! In Crystal Skull, she's lowered to third wheel! She not even a sidekick, because that role is filled by Mutt. I'll take the old "drink em' under the table" Marion, and give me Sallah over Mutt as Indy's sidekick anyday!

To Quote Roger Ebert's review of "North"........"I hated, hated, hated, this film!!!!!"

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

Yes I am, solidly. Know why? I'll say it, and you all will know I'm speaking the truth, even if no one backs me up here...

Raiders was THE BEST ADVENTURE MOVIE ever- until they opened the Ark.
*Oooohhhh. Ahhhh. Spirits...angel turning all skeleton...Nazi's getting what they deserved...*
Wrathful God?
Satan's window into this plane?
Who T F knows!!!!! Honestly, we were so dazzled by the preceding 110 minutes, they could have done almost anything, and we would have bought it.
Basically, it was a kids in a candy store ending.

THEN Doom had Indy 'covering his heart' and 'understanding the magic of the rocks'(even though in the next chronological episode, he doesn't believe in hokus pokus),
THEN Crusade presented us with a centuries old knight of the first crusade that happened to speak impeccable modern English, and who's ending, while extremely and satisfyingly character driven, again made as much sense as lead balloon.

Please. These movies never really made any sense. I mean like, NO sense.

And that's why I like Crystal Skull- it fits in PERFECTLY with the other three.

IMO.

She sure seemed to have fun scarin' him with that jeep-jump, eh?
Seriously, I was just so glad she was in it, I didn't think about that- it's a fair criticism.

So you think that if a topless stripper popped out of the Ark and started a dance...we'd have bought it?
