What flick do you watch just to get a major kick, or even a laugh or two? Not great movies necessarily, but FUN?

My go-to flicks are Army Of Darkness, The Mummy Returns, Who Am I?, Diamonds Are Forever, and Big Trouble In Little China.

Make your lists!

STOWEAWAY

Oh yes, LOVE Big Trouble in Little China.

My fun movie is The Replacements. I'm a big Keanu fan and that's just one of his fluffier ones. But it's a riot!

"I'm wiry"
"That'll do pig"
"Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory lasts forever."

ETA: Ooh, Dewrastler, quick on the draw. You beat me to it.

DREAMTROVE

I used to watch B movies, and creature features. Popcorn worthy. Sometimes really bad sci-fi or historical drama. Day after Tomorrow, nice weather porn, and I just watched sophia coppola's marie antoinette. very lacking, but fun.

Another movie to remake: Alien from LA. There was a decent b-movie premise terribly executed. Hard to replace a young Kathy Ireland for looks, easy to replace her for talent :) I'm willing to stick Emma Watson in there. Or anywhere.

THESOMNAMBULIST

I usually always fall back on the old fantasy classics of Ray Harryhausen:
Jason and the Argonauts
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad
Mysterious Island
First Men on the moon.
Clash of the Titans.

...Also old time sci-fi:
Day the Earth Stood Still
War of the Worlds
Incredible Shrinking man
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Creature from the Black Lagaoon etc

Big Trouble is always in there too. As is TRON, My Science Project, and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

and I'll always give Roxanne a look see for laughs and a little sentimentality.

when I'm channel-surfing I always stop on these:

Fifth Element
Conan the Barbarian
Blazing Saddles (if not a sanitized version)
Forbidden Planet
She Wore A Yellow Ribbon
Dancing At The Blue Iguana(not fun aside from a cameo by Burt Reynolds, but Darryl Hannah, Sandra Oh, Jennifer Tilly and others poledancing...)

Oh, and Buckaroo Banzai

You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

Let's see... ditto to Fifth Element, Armageddon, and Knight's Tale. I also have a terrible weakness for romance movies, although I've been getting better about them.

TRAVELER

I like to watch Cleopatra 2525. Its a hoot. Gorgeous women into action adventure. I like the way they leap around. Doing summersaults in corridors by leaping against the wall and kicking off. It looks great, but makes no sense. And jumping down those endless shafts. You don't see that on any Star Trek or Stargate series. Gotta love the outfit they wear too.

Princess Bride never fails to make me smile. Dogma or Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back are always good for crazy fun laugh times. It's not a movie, but That 70s Show can be super entertaining. Of course there's also the classics of Buffy, Angel, and Firefly/Serenity, which I can't just pop in whenever I need something to do.

I don't consider it a 'fun' movie in any way, although it does have it's humour. That's why I put the bit in brackets that it isn't neccesarily fun but I do get a kick out of watching each time. Even if it is an emotional wallop to the groin, stomach and heart.
One of my fave bits from the LW 1+2 is that they introduce the death of Riggs's wife in the first film and it plays its part. Now in most films of this type the main baddie (Joshua or McAllister) would have been responsible for her death in some way giving Riggs the ultimate reason to go after them.
But not in this case, the makers leave it till the second movie, when Riggs has started to move on and then BAM! you find out how she really died.
A stroke of genius so that when Riggs goes after the baddies you are totally with him and want him to tear them apart. The 'kick' I get is when he pulls the house down. There is so much sheer determination in him that you could almost believe he could really be doing it.

Definitely not fun but my fave buddy cop movies that I always enjoy watching amd consider the second one slightly better than the first.

Does that make more sense?

classic obscure
I can't remember if i saw this, or it was recommended to me, it's probably somewhere on some file share. I'll have to dig it up again
ultraviolet, watch equilibrium. Nice synthesis of dystopia. Less a milla's ass though (none :( )
I mean, I see underworld in the same sense as dead alive or reanimator. They aren't 12 monkeys.

Actually, I said after seeing dead alive/braindead I commented that I had been cured of gore aversion, but also, underneath that, there was a real film making talent. I didn't think "he'll have an oscar within 10 years"
