Fairbanks?
Power?
Williams?
Delon?
Banderas?

I like Ty.

I grew up with the little-known Duncan Regehr version:

That said, I think Banderas gets points for doing his own Zorro, and being free to reinvent the character.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I have not seen either of the Banderas films, but I fondly remember Guy Williams from the Disney series, and have seen at least parts of the Fairbanks version, but I don't recall Tyrone Power. I'm just glad you didn't include George Hamilton as a choice in the poll.

Aw Dang. I was going to include Hamilton I must be the one of the few to say that "Zorro, the Gay Blade" is probably one of my favorite movies . . . ever.

"Ship oil?"
"You mean to say you have never heard of the ships in field? The little, ah. . . bah, bah, bahs?"
"Oh! You mean SHEEP!"
"Yes. That is what I said."

Mal: "Yeah"
Zoe: "So not running now"

They are the Batman/James Bondesque Zorro movies.

I grew up on that, looking back now, they're a little lightweight IMO.

Very swashbuckle-y.

That was the best one, IMO!!! You MUST see it!

Yup, I loved that movie! It was so cheesy it was good!

Zorro, The Gay Blade is the only Zorro movie I've seen! So now, that character is who I think of when I think of Zorro.

I also liked Hamilton's Dracula in Love at First Bite.

I kind of like Frank Langella's version in the Mark of Zorro.

I'd forgotten about that one! Langella was great in the role, bit it WAS a TV movie, kinda small production, and I hated the mask they made him wear. But it also had Ricardo Montalban as the bad guy- that alone made it memorable.

I just saw Legend Of Zorro for the first time the other day. Wow, I'm sorry I never saw it before, I actually liked it better than Banderas' first Zorro movie! I didn't think it was gonna be very good, but then I knew I had to own it!

Anyone else see it?

My vote definitely goes to Hamilton and "Zorro the Gay Blade." One of the few movies that has actually stood the test of entertainment time since I first saw it.

If I can't go with a write-in, I guess I'd go with Banderas, which was pretty much the best Batman movie I've evern seen. :)

Hey Chrisisall,

Count me among those in the Ty camp.

For old times sake - it's Guy Williams, because I grew up as a young kid watching Disney's version of Zorro, The Fox and would often go right out and play my hero. Even though Williams was not spanish I felt good about Zorro being a good guy.

But my all-time fav is Tyrone Power's The Mark of Zorro with Linda Darnell and Basil Rathbone (as the evil Capitan Pasquale). Rathbone, a great character actor of that era, was an excellent swordsman who also played the equally evil Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood, 1938 (opposite Errol Flynn).

Big Ups to Hamilton though for the Gay Blade. Check out his HI-larious take off as a gigolo in 1992 Once Upon A Crime. Pure George Hamilton gold.

Have you seen the special edition DVD with the colourized version on it? I usually HATE colourized flicks, but this one really let you see what was happening, gave the movie a depth I'd not seen before! It looked very natural.

He was Italian, isn't that basically like, the same thing?

No, Chris, I didn't know there was a colorized version. I'll look it up.

Thanks for the info. Can't stop the signal!

Williams was italian?! Who knew. He did have some spanish features; perhaps from the early Spanish Empire way back when. Language-wise most definitely (romance language), as far as being latin - well, that may be more true than not.

I'm of hispanic heritage, so I thought it to be a good thing that he was representing in an indirect way. Still Zorro was a hero, like Cisco Kid, which is to say hispanics seen in a positive light. As a young kid you take what you can get.

SGG, did you see Legend Of Zorro? I got it for $4 used at Blockbuster, but after seeing it, I would have bought it new if I had to! I can't believe it did such poor Box Office when it came out...

No, I have yet to see the Legend of Zorro. But on your recommendation I will.

Here's one for you. If you have not seen the Wrestler - do. It is not your typical H-wood story, it's more an indy film, but you will not be disappointed. Mickey Rourke was nominated for a reason. All actors in this are solid - Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood give solid memorable perfs.
