I won't post anything spoilery straight away but if anyone wants specifics I'll be more than happy to give details in spoiler brackets.

This version isn't entirely finished. It mostly comes through in some stuntwork and special effects shots. Very funny seeing wires attached to actors or full on animatics in place of CGI.

Admittedly I haven't followed comics in over 10 years so the following comment may come from my being misinformed. Several of the characters in this film, including the lead, have different backstories than I remember. I realize that movie adaptations are rarely faithful but some of the changes are striking.

As far as the movie goes it is entertaining. The action, particularly the fight scenes, are very well done. For me the story is a bit iffy because of what I know from my X-men reading days. The biggest weakness in the film is that several characters were not cast all that well. The most glaring is the new Stryker. The actor who played him in the first X-men film was so much more convincing.

That's about all I can say without having a spoiler lynch mob after me. Like I said if anyone wants specifics just ask.

Interesting hearing about the new Stryker, as I do like Danny Huston.

I've heard this version is actually a few months old, and is the version that was shown to Producers/Studio/Whoever, who then asked for new scenes to be shot to make the film stronger. So a month or two of reshoots were done, some scenes were cut, and, even with scenes being cut and replaced, the film is now 20 minutes or so longer.
So if this is true, some of the problems you have might not be so glaring in the new version.

But that's just what I hear.

Regardless of reviews, it's Hugh Jackman, so I'll be there.

So, I guess I will indulge in a big popcorn and big drink.

"Battle of Serenity, Mal. Besides Zoe here, how many-" "I'm talkin at you! How many men in your platoon came out of their alive".

I kind of figured a few things would be changed from this version and the final product. I hope you are correct about some reshoots. There is one character in the movie, a personal favorite, who really needs more screen time. I would also like to see the ending changed a bit. It wasn't bad but there is at least one outcome that I hope has been amended.

"The word I've gotten is that the print you can see online is several months old - and is in fact the version of the film that drove FOX to spend untold millions on a couple of weeks of additional shoots. That things have been edited out and that even with that - the film now runs 20 minutes longer than that which you see online. That there was stuff they didn't like and they took aggressive and costly steps to correct that."

That's where I saw it!
