And it did not disappoint. I like how they blend human drama with a mystery.

Thank you Out2theback.
I have not been watching much primetime TV and did not know the new season Fringe was premering this week. I hope to get a great season of programing this year. SG-1 is going to be sindicated on one of the channels I get here, starting this week. It will be great seeing the first episodes. It has been years. Dollhouse will return for another season. Fingers crossed there. I know it is on the bubble. For a person who has never had cable. it is great when these opportunities appear.

I hope the next season is as exciting for you as I feel it will be for me.

You're welcome !

You can count on my interest in Fringe being keen , because it was the best show to premiere last year , in addition to Dollhouse...

Actually , Fringe is my favorite show since New Amsterdam , and the synopses about it suggest the 2nd season will be even better than the first ,
although of course , the details are scant...

Just let it be said that the show will find its legs , and that the writers now know what they have created , and where they'd like to take us...

We're going for a ride...

Now if the Notorious F-Network will just get serious about giving Firefly its due...

Yay! Been waiting way too long for the premiere. Every time I watch it, it just gives me flashbacks of the good ole times watching The X-Files... well, before it all went to hell anyways...

They even had an X-Files shout out this ep; it looked like there was an episode playing on the TV when the shapeshifter killed his first on-screen victim.

And I'm upset over what happened to Charlie.

That was a brilliant season premiere! Can't wait to see how this season unfolds. It's going in such great directions.

I was upset with that too, but please mind the semi spoilers. >.>

Yea. I saw that X-Files spot myself. It was just a moment as the camera panned by.

I had an itch in the back of my head about Charlie during that scene at the end of the chase.

Spoiler alert.
I love Fringe. It was the most interesting show of last season (although tied with the final few episodes of Sarah Conner Chronicles).
The premiere of season two was very good. I think giving Peter more focus is a great idea. The new FBI agent worked as well.
But I do think we have a gaffe at the end.
So, to be able to approach Olivia, the shape shifter (SS) finds and kills the nurse and takes her shape. The SS goes and interrogates Olivia and then tries to kill her. SS gets shot twice before jumping first 3 stories then two stories (and therefore has evidence of increase strength/durability).
There is then a gap of time as the agents and Peter make their way to the basement. The SS approaches Charlie who then fires two shots point blank. You then hear two more shots as the camera follows Peter. Peter then finds Charlie standing over the body of the nurse. Later we find that the SS is burning Charlie’s body after taking over Charlie’s shape.
Err, aren’t we missing a body?
The SS had enough time to retrieve the nurse’s body, I will give them that. But wouldn’t the Fringe division be looking for the original nurse’s body if they think the nurse in the basement is the SS ? Wouldn’t Walter want to do a complete autopsy?
Also, there were a total of 4 shots in the basement. The SS did 2 to duplicate the wounds it was given before it jumped, but the first 2 were the real Charlie’s. Therefore, how did the supposed SS die, as it does not appear to have any other wounds? Also, the SS would have had to take Charlie’s shape and change into his clothes in 30 seconds or less?
Just askin.

I think there was another X-files shout out besides just the scene on the TV. During the hearings at Washington the Congressman said something about the "X and Fringe divisions of the FBI". If I heard what I thought I heard, that was pretty neat too.

It all seemed very quick to me as well. Even though it was a good episode overall, there was some questionable moments, the ending being the biggest.

Select to view spoiler:

Somehow the Shapeshifter overpowered/killed Charlie, brought the nurse's body from another part of the building back to that area, plugged him/herself into Charlie, transformed (in and of itself taking about 30 seconds) and took Charlie's clothes off the dead body and put them on himself. That really should have taken a lot longer.

So, no. I don't think we're missing a body, but the shapeshifter must have been fast like a freak to do all of that in that short amount of time.

I too was sad about Charlie. That was a real shame.

I got that same itch when the new FBI agent became more involved in the proceedings. Once she, Peter and Charlie were in the tunnels that pretty much clinched it.

As noted, the shapeshifter replacing Charlie doesn't really work out, logistically.

It would've had to kill Charlie, perform the shift, damage the shifter module to render it inoperable, then steal his clothes, plant the nurse's body (which Charlie didn't see, so it wasn't there initially), disguise whatever method it used to kill her, and replicate at least four gunshot wounds (two from upstairs, plus the two that Peter heard), all before Jessup could get downstairs.

Even if the shapeshifter did somehow manage all that (and fool Walter's probable autopsy of the "shapeshifter"), they're still short a body: they have the "dead shifter" in the form of the nurse, but not the nurse herself --they'd definitely be smart enough to immediately (i.e., before the shifter could dispose of Charlie) check the incinerator for organic residue. Forensics can't have swept the place before the shifter destroyed Charlie's body, or they'd have found it.

The only way it could work is if there were two shifters. One of whom kills and replaces Charlie while the gunfight is happening elsewhere, hides his body, then kills shifter #1. The team recovers both the shifter and the nurse (off-camera), leaving no further investigation while shifter #2 disposes of Charlie.

Also, Charlie-shifter is infiltrating Fringe Division --not trying to kill Olivia, which was shifter #1's mission.

Remember what the guy in the typewriter shop said: "you're one of them." Clearly, there are others (the only question is whether these "others" are also shifers, or did this particular guy have a special talent).

Ep #1 was great opening (with some minor flaws) and loads of fun. Except in a few instances, this ep kept me on my toes.

Thanks O2TB, for posting pic of Ana Torv (my new found love) she is all woman. BTW the actress that plays her sister could very well be her sister they look so alike (rrrrowrr, she's hot!).

Here it is, my TV girlfriends:

1- Summer Glau
2- Christina Hendricks
3- Ana Torv

Lord, I don't ask for much

My pleasure...Can't get enough good pics or vid of Anna Torv...Or her TV 'sister'...

Like Jewel Staite or Kathryn Morris , Anna is one of those women who is just fun to watch .

I just wanna see the look on her face when...

Never mind .

ETA : Variety reported that the F-network won the night with the Bones/Fringe juggernaut...

It's not a stretch to predict big , big things for Fringe if the nameless-network will just keep their fingers out of the custard...Er , pie !
