Likes to mess with stuffs.

'Battlestar Galactica' and 'Dollhouse' star Tahmoh Penikett will star in SciFi's (Syfy) four-hour miniseries, 'Riverworld.'

Based loosely on recently deceased author Phillip Jose Farmer's 'Riverworld' novels, Penikett will play the role of Matt Ellman, a war correspondent who is killed and is then resurrected on a terraformed world that consists solely of a very long river-valley populated by nearly the whole of humanity who have passed away during Earth's history.

If the 4 part miniseries is a success, 'Riverworld' could very well become a full blown series for Syfy, with Penikett likely to reprise his role.

Very interesting development for 'Dollhouse' fans since Penikett is now the second main character from 'Dollhouse' to commit to a possible long term project for another network.

Amy Acker is currently shooting the pilot for 'Happy Town' in Ontario for ABC, which if picked up, will become a full series for ABC.

I'm sure this sort of thing is commonplace in Hollywood, but do these actors know something about 'Dollhouse' that we fans don't?

My guess is yes, they hear inside gossip, I do understand that a 'lead' role pays better but when you are currently on a show, why go and sign up to work on another show.(unless you know more than we do)

Keep the Shiny side up

Someone must really like this concept, since they did it just 5 years ago.

I think they know it's possible to work on two shows at once particularly when the shows in question have large ensembles of characters.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Yeah, saw this one a few years back with Brad Johnson playing the lead as "Hale" the astronaut. Enjoyed it and heard they were thinking of making it a series. They left the ending wide open for one.

Wonder if this "new" one with Tahmoh Penikett will follow the first one or be an entirely different story.

Nathan once said that the actors are the last to know anything. That's not necessarily true. Having previously worked at a movie studio myself, I can say that unless you are part of those super-exclusive executive meetings, you're amongst the last to know.

Both Amy Acker and Tahmoh Penikett probably signed on for these projects when it was widely believed that Dollhouse didn't have a chance to be picked up for a second season. But now that there is word that it may be picked up, it's anybody's guess. I can see Acker exiting the show easily by her character either dying or leaving the Dollhouse (especially since she has solely been billed as a guest star). Penikett's character would be harder to replace, and such a change for such an important role could put the shaky fate of the entire show at greater jeopardy.

Though, I think Acker and Penikett are both probably preparing for the worst. Actors have bills to pay too, and the next paycheck isn't always guaranteed.

Expired, forgotten, spoiled rotten.

When you think about the long breaks scifi took between BSG seasons and the fact that these shows may not be showing or filming during the same part of the year even if scifi doesn't give riverworld the same treatment as battlestar, I bet Penikett could do both.
