Likes to mess with stuffs.

Morena looks different in a subversively evil sort of way.

Does anyone know where I can get a larger version of the photos. I would like to use them as banners on Shiny Universe.

Thanks,
Haken

I've also never heard of the original, but this looks pretty interesting. I also love the cast. Besides Morena and Alan, I saw Joel Gretsch from The 4400 in there. Good to see him on TV again

I wonder if they're gonna keep the oh so appropriately named Ham Tyler.

Always thought that was an interesting character, a violent thug and low life who goes from being hated, to being respected, in spite of being an obvious sadist who enjoys his work just a little too much.

Michael Ironsides brought an interesting flavor to the character and managed a positive chemistry between him and "Gooder", Marc Singers character, that I found immensely entertaining - so I really hope they get a chance to do that again.

Heck, that'd be a role I wouldn't mind seeing Adam in, a psycho that winds up by twist of fate being one of the "good" guys - given how he brought Jayne to life, this'd be right up his alley.

Operative: "Its worse than you know..." Mal: "It usually is."

She has almost NO eye make up on thats why she looks so different, and yes she does have a slightly 'evil' type of 'air'. I remember the show and I liked it, except for a big "small' reason. Those that saw it know what I mean.
Thanks very much for posting that for us.
It seems like Morenna and Summer can't BOTH have a job at the same time.

Just time for a quick post here but if you look close Morena’s face is covered with scales. Making her look evil and different.

No scales, just the texture of the "screen" or bottom of the ship.

Rip, upon further scrutiny I concur. The scales do cover the entire screen. Morena’s skin is so flawless I was kinda thrown off there a second.

There was a question that came up somewhere. Why are the people clapping? I agree. Realistically they should be running for their basements. I do hope that the writing is good. I know Morena and Alan and the rest of the cast will be professional…..hope that they have decent material to work with.

I agree about the clapping. Um . . . why? To quote another classic sci-fi movie:
"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it."

There would be people running and screaming all over the place regardless of the pretty lady talking on the ginormous screen hanging over the city.

I miss Morena's hair. It was every so pretty. The short hair just doesn't do it for me.

The clip had me interested right up until the clapping. That made me very worried that the writers have no idea how a person acts. I hate writing that molds people around a scene or a plot device. If you want to get from point A to point B you need a good reason for the people to get there. The clapping is so jarring it destroys the suspension of disbelief.

Yeah the clapping was very confusing and unrealistic. I hope it's explained and only seems idiotic out of context. They'll have to be the greatest writer's on TV to make that seem plausible!

............. uh... yeah.. I somehow doubt that.

Oh well, it'll be cool to see Morena and Alan on TV again. Plus other than the clapping part I thought it looked fairly interesting.

I really hope they can explain that...

And I totally didn't connect the "scales" to her skin, even though I knew about the connections it would have to the original series. I guess that falls under the category of "We all see things in different ways". For the record, however, the "scales"(panels or cells would be more accurate) do not move with her face. Watch it again if you don't believe me.

Let me see if I'm understanding the pattern here.

They take a medicre SF TV series called Battlestar Galactica and remade it into a better.

They take a medicre SF TV series called "V" and remade it into what we hope will be a better.

Now, could they see their way clear to taking a superiod SF TV series called "Firefly" and remake it?

Ugh I kinda hope not. I don't think I could put up with them remaking the series. There are always changes in a remake and I don't think I could put up with "we decided to make Mal and Kaylee merge into the new Maylee character".

Yeah... uh no. First of all calling BSG a better series than the original is accurate I suppose, though I still didn't care for it. Furthermore suggesting a remake of Firefly is bordering on sacrilegious around here. Possibly even heretical and traitorous... so I advise a bit more caution with that sort of suggestion.

But back on topic. This seems like an excellent series to remake as it's not particularly well known and has themes that would easily fit into the modern setting. Hopefully they will pull it off. However, it's never a good sign when you have ridiculous logic problems in the first little teaser.

They're thinking "Oh, good, friendly people from the stars to be friendly with - and hot, too!"

Like all people in movies they've apparently never seen a movie or read a book in their life.

In this case, they've never seen (the original) V, Independence Day, Mars Attacks, heard The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, or read "Childhood's End" and don't, therefore no that "giant flying saucers appear over all the Earth's cities" rarely turns out well, even if they come in peace.

Well, OK, the outcome of "Childhood's End" has a silver lining if you're open minded, but...

The sad thing is, if they ever get round to making a film of "Childhood's End" the opening will look soooooo derivative.

As pleasant as Morena is to look at, having a massive ship hover over our biggest cities showing us a video on the biggest damn t.v. screen ever as our FIRST contact w/ intelligent alien life would really suck.

REGINAROADIE

Michael Ironside in the original miniseries was one of my favorite characters too. I loved when they were doing the raid on the Visitor's embassy, he pulls out the bag of the red powder and right before he dumps it on the face of the one Visitor who killed this old lady he connected with, he goes "Say goodnight, hotshot."

A lot of people are saying that the original show was cheesy, but I think it's actually a great bit of legitimate science fiction that dealt with fascism and tyrrany and how easy it can form. If the guys in charge of the remake pull their cards right, this could be a remake akin to BATTLESTAR GALACTICA.

Two things I want to see.

1. A Willy equivalent character (Visitor who ends up joining the resistance).

2. That infamous reveal of Diana's mouth extending to an unGodly size and swallowing a guinea pig whole. If Morena want's people to forget about Inara, this HAS to happen.

**************************************************

V. A remake of the extremely awesome '80s hit about alien visitors. (It was kind of like Alf as a parable about fascism.) If you were not a fan of Firefly or Stargate SG-1, then you'll want to be
introduced to star Morena Baccarin, who might well be in contention for the coveted title of "hottest woman on TV," even after exposing her space-lizard face. Can't wait for the blog posts likening her
character to Sarah Palin.

Cheesy doesn't have to be bad - especially if it has been matured for 25 years.

Also (I've just discovered from another forum) that the "original" we saw here in the UK was actually the US original and the cheesier sequel welded together.

Quote:

, but I think it's actually a great bit of legitimate science fiction that dealt with fascism and tyrrany and how easy it can form.

Just not very subtly, that's all... I know humanity is pretty poor at remembering past mistakes, but if our new best friends turned up with that flag and those uniforms and immediately started a youth movement, then surely even modern Homo Ignoramus might just twig.

To be fair, though - Babylon 5 also laid on the fascist allegories with a trowel, and Trek used various plot devices to have actual Nazis turn up. Clearly, Hollywood thinks we won't recognize fascism unless it turns up wearing red and black leather with silver lightning bolts. I do hope they're wrong.

Oh, and if you'd previously read the classic Arthur C Clarke novel "Childhood's End" then "V"'s rather obvious appropriation of the opening scenes did rather get it off on the wrong foot.

Of course, then Independence Day nicked the same idea, and that film is cheese, covered with cheese sauce with extra parmesan and cream cheese piping. With extra cheese*.

True. I cannot conceive what combination of misconceptions would lead to them leaving out that scene (or subverting it somehow).
