By the way, Chris, did you know that Gabrielle Anwar, our dear Fiona Glenanne, is also in Season One of The Tudors, which airs on Showtime?

I just picked up Seasons One and Two at BuyMore for $19.99 each. It's pretty awesome. They take some liberties with some of the language, but I can get past that. They do pretty well with *most* of the historical stuff, which is a plus.

They did screw up one thing, though, in that they have Henry VIII's illegitimate-but-recognized-and-thus-in-line-for-succession son, Henry Fitz-Roy, dying at about age 8 or so; In reality, he was 17 when he died - a fact they'd have known if they'd ever watched Blood Ties on Lifetime!

This show is the flipside of CHUCK for me- more serious than funny, yet still both.

Was wondering where Gabrielle Anwar looked familiar.
Then it hit me! (but I looked it up just in case)

She was on John Doe. She played Dr. Rachel Pembroke, JD's "special" neurologist friend from England. Remember the episode with the murder on the plane? That was her!

Gabrielle was the only reason to sit though Scent of a Woman, as the title character. As well as that Bodysnatchers remake.

Just got Burn Notice season 1 for $20 at Shopko, didn't see S2, and didn't see S1 on sale at buymore - thought it was full price, have to check again.

What were your thoughts on the Season 3 Premiere?

Thought it was great to see 'em all together again. Interesting how they now DO have to worry about law enforcement now. That's one thing that hadn't occured to me. The "company" was also keeping the cops out of Michael's way apparently, so he could do his thang (helping others) while they were recruiting him.

I don't know about that. Never saw a single episode of Miami Vice. And still have no desire to. :)

Meanwhile, BestBuy (aka BuyMore) has Burn Notice Season 1 on sale starting today, for $12.99. Cheapest price I've seen on it, by a long ways. Cheapest I saw previous was $19.99-22.99.

You mean to say that back in the day you missed "the series that defined a generation"?

Actually, first two seasons were fun, then it turned to crap.
But Burn Notice is, like, 1000X better.

Sorry, but I missed out on huge blocks of TV in the 80s. Never saw a single ep of Vice, Dukes Of Hazzard, A Team, McGuyver, Knight Rider. Truth is, I was either working or I was out partying.

But . . . . but . . . how can . . . I . . . did you . . . I . . . it . . . but . . . .

You must catch up on 80's tv, my friend! A-Team was awesome. As was Dukes of Hazzard. I watched Miami Vice here and there, but not so much as the others. That was my zone, man. Back in the 80's I was a living TV Guide. I could tell you what was on, what time, etc. I watched an awful lot back then. Too much, some might say . . . and now that makes me look like a true 80's geek. Ah well..... Good times . . . good times.

I've tried to watch some of 'em since then, and holy crap but they're awful.

It's funny, because I *did* catch a lot of Magnum, P.I., but that was in syndication when I was in school. It was cheesy, but it was kinda fun, too.

'Course, now they're in development for a Magnum feature film. Wonder who's going to play Thomas? What about Rick and TC? Higgins? I'm sure there will be tons of cameos from the show...

While these guys were yapping about those cheezy shows, I was thinking Magnum. Ving Rhames or Michael Duncan Clarke could do TC. Ryan Seacrest could do Rick. Bernard Hill for Thomas. How about Matthew McConnehy (sp?) for Magnum? Not as cool as Selleck, but he could pull it off.

I don't think it's out of the question that Selleck could still do Magnum - it has a lot to do with what kind of movie they want to do. As for McConnaughey (I think that's the right sp)...Good God, man! Selleck brought some of that ass-kickin'-humble-guy vibe to the roll, a la Harrison Ford. Matthew "Shirtless" McConaughey couldn't pull that off at gun-point. UNLESS...it were some kind of origins story, in which case McConnaughey might work, depending on what kind of past Magnum is supposed to have. For the title role...honestly, I got nuthin. But make Matty-boy the villain...or a pool boy (tailor the role to his shirt-doffing inclinations)...or see how he does with the "Icepick" role.

Why not Nathan Fillion as Magnum? He's got gravitas, he's got snark; all he needs is the mustache!

Wans't Magnum gettin beat up a bit? He wasn't a wimp, but he got the short end of the deal often enough - realistic enough like Rockford, as well.

I can't think of many of today's prettyboy actors who aren't covered in tats, coked up, or got a corncob up their behind. Is Keanu suave enough?
