I just saw a commercial for a SciFi "origina" movie called "Star Runners" the voiceover guy said something like "Two smugglers, one crate" and in the crate is....guess what....a girl!
Now how is a movie about a girl frozen in a crate picked up by smugglers who are on a space ship 'original'?

It wasn't original when firefly did it either. While I love the show I think its been done quite a lot.

Heh. "A SciFi Unoriginal Movie" actually would make a pretty cool tagline.

Well, Outlaw Star had a girl-in-a-box, IIRC. Aside from that, I can't really think of any.

Maybe

Sari's "birth"

in Transformers Animated counts, though it's only seen in flashback (and it's more of an alien-robot-in-a-box anyway).

Guess not, I just saw it in an episode of Star Trek not too long ago. I forgot what series it was.

I'm guessing that the only thing "original" about this SyFy Original Movie will be how much it sucks. Honestly, have you tried watching any of their "original" movies? The word "laughable" hardly begins to describe them - and they're not trying to be funny.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Yeah, the Sci Fi "original" movies they air on Saturday nights are normally uber low budget and really bad. Some are campy, but for the most part, bad.

Though I haven't really enjoyed Sci-Fi Channel on the whole for quite a while now, I thought "Tin Man" was pretty good. And their series "Eureka" is very good.

That. . . wouldn't make it very original, actually.

Well, if it rises to the levels of suckitude that I think SyFy is capable of, it WOULD be original - it would be a level of suck never before seen in the annals of film-making. :)

Is Eureka going to be coming back? It seemed to get kind of lost towards the end of last season. I've enjoyed it, but it seems like it's losing direction a bit.

And I recorded Tin Man, but haven't watched it yet. I may have to.

From what I've seen they're "continuing" season three next month . . . after about 10-11 months off the air. Which is incredibly odd if you ask me.

Tin Man was good, IMHO. Not great, but good. I always get interested in a story told from a different perspective and this mini-series did just that and did it pretty well. Again . . . IMHO.
