E-gad! Looks like this movie is shaping up to be an utter crapfest. Only one good review on Rottentomatoes.com so far. Ranking at only 22%.

Dang. I was looking forward to it, too. This might have to wait until DVD...

Why would you listen to them?
I've only seen it twice, not sure if that's enough.

Spoiler alert:

why did the general get ressurected? didn't he die in Qatar in the first flick?

SINGATE

It seems most people nowadays look for reasons not to like something rather than enjoying it for what it is...and this is a fun summer action flick.

What's not to like? Great FX, great action, and most importantly this movie is actually about the Transformers. I know that is a radical concept considering the first film was primarily about Sam trying to get laid. Another improvement is that the Decepticons have more than 5 minutes of screentime and 3 lines of dialogue.

My only gripe was the use of Devastator. It shows up all big and bad only to be outdone by 2 munchkin Autobots whose primary purpose was comic relief.

Sidenote: does anyone else think Megan Fox had some work done since the first film? I keep wondering why attractive women feel the need to do these things.

Actually movie aside, cause I think everyone should go and see what they think, there was one thing that bugged me from the get go.

I didn't like the opening shot of Megan Fox, (course I am a female.) I kept thinking, "If I were a bad ass motorcycle fixing, alien race discovering woman, would I be walking around in minuscule shorts? Megan Fox is very attractive, but that shot turned me off to the movie a bit. Although, I am sure for some it did the exact opposite

Just my two cents. Course the night before we'd gone to a CSTS Screening so my brain was remembering a different kind of kick ass woman.

Have you not met many motorcycle women?

Megan was reportedly required to gain weight for the role in the sequel, the producers made her do so. Otherwise she seems the same to me, but I'm not into the tramp stamp thing.

I have to disagree with Rotten Tomatoes. The movie is much better than others that have an over 50% rating. I really don't understand where most of the hate is coming from. It's an action movie, and it outdid the first one in scale. Quality of story is about the same, and I'd even say the acting is slightly better. The only gripe is slow pacing in the middle.

It should definitely be seen in the theater, so go get your excitement back and go enjoy it!

RIPWASH

I'll only say I was burned terribly by the month of May a few years ago. Went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Spider-Man 3 and Shrek the Third that month and they were all a waste of my money. I was sorely disappointed in all three. So now I'm just a little more than cautious when going to the movies and plunking down my hard earned cashy money.

The twins being referred to as the "Jar-Jar Binks" of this decade has me turned way, WAY off (I am a HUGE Jar-Jar hater) and I'm hearing something about huge metal testicles which I can definitely do without seeing.

CYBERSNARK

Copy/pasting my review from another board (which explains the nonsequitur quote):

Overall response: it wasn't as bad as the last one.

It wasn't good, by any means, but it did avoid most of the problems of the first one (there were a few wide shots and cuts that were more than a half-second apart, not all the TFs sounded exactly alike, some of the humour was actually funny, Simmons wasn't totally annoying), but also introduced more new problems (various TFs in two places at once, all of Egypt being within sight of the Giza Pyramids, Egypt and Jordan sharing a border, various dead people [Blackout, Bonecrusher, Demolishor] being inexplicably alive and well, important people from the first movie [SecDef Keller, Maggie, Glen] being absent, huge gaping logical flaws). Also, Transformers are still anachronistic Magic-Tech whose abilities vary from scene to scene based more on plot convenience than any logical extrapolation. (If you can morph on a nanotech level, assemble drones on-the-fly, and breed an army of protoforms at will, why bother transforming to a single alt-mode, and why did you need the Allspark in the first place?!?)

On one hand, I have to give Bay kudos for managing to do something completely new (the Order of Primes, with Optimus being the last, Megatron as Vader to the Fallen's Palpatine, the Matrix of Leadership being tied more to the Fallen than to Primus, avoiding Primus/Unicron after Epps' perfect foreshadowing, etc), but it ends up making this continuity completely irreconcileable with everything that's gone before. I get the feeling it's less about "let's do something new and different" and more "I don't know/care WTF came before, I'm just gonna do my own story." Which is fine, just. . . inconsequential.

Well. At least there's still. . . No, wait, Transformers Animated is cancelled too.

At least I can still collect the Animated DVDs.

See, here's the main problem for me; for some people (myself among them) these are two different and mutually-exclusive things. Unfortunately, we're the minority.
