WTF is SciFi ( or is it now SyFy ? ) thinking.... Warehouse 13. Isn't there already a show about an Gov't run area that's home to far out, top secret stuff ?

Hey, cut W13 some slack. It was co-written by Jane Espenson and Rockne O'Bannon, or at least the pilot was.

I'm not thrilled with the channel's "rebranding" either, but I'm not about to trash a show I haven't seen yet.

I was unaware that Jane was part of the pilot. It's not already been on yet, has it ?

Premieres tonight at 9pm/8C, and is scheduled to run for 2 hours, 4 minutes. Set your DVRs and VCRs accordingly.

Count me in too! Got plenty of bells for it already.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it's even half as good as Eureka(Which starts back very soon BTW).

So far ,so good. I didn't know who was on this show, until I saw Eddie McClintock ( Bones ) and Saul Rubinek. He's kinda one of my favs, actually.

My reaction is just the opposite. Not impressed so far.

Also, not sure why IMDb.com thought Rockne O'Bannon had anything to do with the script. Unless I just blinked at the wrong time his name was not in the credits.

Jane has done so much better.

A little bit obvious, but I thought it was pretty good. Liked Artie's steampunk computer keyboard, video communicators, etc. I'm willing to give it a chance.

Yeah, I agree with most of you. It was pretty good. Not the best Scifi(WTF? No I'm not ever calling it Syfy) has done but it was almost as good as Eureka's pilot episode. Certainly better than Sanctuary.

I'll definitely watch it next week and from the looks of the previews, for many weeks after.

I kinda liked it and will tune in for more. I liked Artie and Pete. The woman will probably grow on me.

I also really liked the steampunk aspect of it. The gun, the vid-communicators, the stun gun, the keyboard, etc. It's the little things that get me excited.

My wife and I are thinking that Artie is also pretty dang old. Mrs. Frederick is a little spooky and probably ancient as heck. Probably as old as the warehouse itself (what did he say, the original one was built in the 1830's?).

I gotta say, the thing with the wish-granting kettle popping out ferrets for each un-grantable wish gave me quite a chuckle.

I checked this out last night and enjoyed it all. I liked the mix of humor and action.

I'll be watching again next week.

Also Artie appears to be one of the men in the photo. Directly behind Mrs. Fredricks' left shoulder(And somewhat younger). I'll watch again this afternoon to confirm this. I might be wrong.

Scifi actually did put out a decent new series this year. Lets see if SG-U will actually be worth watch. Personally I think it looks to mix the humor and lore of Stargate with the bland, dry angst and melodrama of BSG... hopefully enough SG to make it actually watchable.

I missed it last night. :( Had a late afternoon at work and didn't get to stay up for the late rewatch.
Will catch it this Friday afternoon when they repeat it. Also be there for the second ep. What little I've seen of it, it looks fun. :)

I'm unlike everyone else regarding SyFy's name change. I used to go to the scifi news site SyFy Portal and that's where they got their updated name. Since I was a huge fan of the news site, SciFi switching to SyFy was fine with me. SyFy Portal is now Airlock Alpha and even better than before. Be sure to check it out sometime. :)

Also it's on tonight at 11PM Central time. But you probably don't have a DVR if you missed it last time. Prior to Eureka is probably a better time to catch it. Remember it's on Friday night now!

It's repeating several times this week. Didn't know about tonight though, thank you! I do have a DVR, but didn't make it home in time to schedule a recording. :( Figured I'd just rewatch it online or on tv.

YAY for Eureka being back...I'm excited about it's return as well. I missed a good bit of last season, but it's always fun and I'll catch up.

Then by all means set your DVR to record ALL DAY Friday. They're doing a Eureka Marathon! I didn't check but I presume it's the first half of Season 3.

Yeah, I think he was the only one who wasn't commented on. Either it was so obvious that there was no need to comment, or he simply played it close to the vest and omitted himself on purpose. Good pic, btw, as he's much slimmer. Which is interesting, because later on, he's huffing and puffing along in the back of the warehouse, and comments that he needs to lose some weight.

Agreed. I liked the steampunk kind of feel to the equipment that Artie was using.

There is so little on SyFy worth watching, but this show seems to be one of them. I will catch the next episode to see how it goes.

I think they've changed their minds on that and calling this the start of season 4. I only say that because I saw on Amazon that the Season 3 DVD is being released in a month or two.

That always bugged me, anyway. The show's been gone for, what . . . 6, 8 months? Maybe more? So why call this a continuation of Season 3?

I enjoyed the show, it was a fun two hours of tv. My biggest gripe is that I sure hope Janne Kelly as Myka gets rid of that bug-eyed look she is going for. It screams "I'm trying to act like a secret service agent" instead of "I'm a secret service agent." Its not natural at all.

I think they're calling it 3.5 or something.

Anyway, what are you guys thoughts on the round-the-world football? Or did anyone else pick up that it was implied to travel all the way around the planet? Two other people I watch it with missed that completely.

Saul Rubinek was my whole reason for tuning in. Most convincing actor in Sci-Fi, IMHO.
ST:TNG, The Outer Limits, EUReKA, etc.
I think it's all his subtle little mannerisms & mumblings that does it.
And he putters around a lab better than anybody.

I just saw the first two episodes (pilot is free on iTunes).

It's pretty good. It's not the most amazing Sci-fi ever, but I like it (and it's certainly better than Sanctuary!). Rubenik and McClintok are great in their roles as the mumbling lab-bound leader and the off-the-cuff agent that goes by his 'vibes'. Kelly (Myka Bering) doesn't come off as she has as much range as those two (she really tried too hard a lot of the time), though she plays high-strung quite well and I think she will improve and grow on me.

I tried it out because Jane Epenson is one of my favs, and while it's sorta off to a shaky start, I could stick with this one. It's nice that we get to see some of the objects already stored at the warehouse and their functions (Lewis Carrol 'Through The Looking Glass' Mirror, magical teleporting kettle that grants wishes). The humor sort of reminds me of Joss ("We're not going in there." "I made cookies?" "Oh, okay.") and it looks like the sky is the limit as to what the intrepid agents could be tracking down in future episodes.

The only thing I fear is the writers suddenly saddling Pete and Myka with some UST. I like the sibling vibe they have right now, no need to complicate things.

Also, I'd be pleased as punch if we got to see Myka's ferret once every few episodes. That moment of her wish was all sorts of awesome (plus, the B&B owner did say she was growing fond of the little guy).

Your Indian Pirate Lord,
Ash

EDIT: I want to ditto the love for the steampunk props and yes! The football does go around the world! I like how Pete has figured out when it returns. :D
