Ok, i know that it's been too long since we have had a Star Trek series, last one ended prematurly in 2005, but what are the true effects of the Temporal Cold War, and what does this meen for the future of time travel in Star Trek?

Personaly, even though it was my least favorite Star Trek series, i thought ENT was a damn shiny show. Yes it had it's rocky points, and i'll admit that, but it was better then most of the crap out there at the time. Now back to topic. A time travel threead, i see a lot of those over on Star Trek fans.net, but none over here, where's the love, time travels make for good talk.

Nowe if you have a thought, DON'T HESITATE TO POST, I PROMISE I'LL TRY TO BE NICE, BUT I AM BRUTALY HONEST, SO IF I GIO OVERBOARD, FEEL FREE TO AS WELL.

WELL, IT'S BACK TO THE 31ST CENTURY FOR ME, YUP 3000 BN, 9 REGM., UFP FOOT SOLDIER.

After TNG, the shows mostly bored me- I only watched them 'cause they were the only Trek in town (and I actually liked Janeway & Sisko).
But now we got new stuff with KIRK & SPOCK!!!

Yippie kai yea, mudder milker!

Yes we have the "new" Kirk and Spok, but we need a new crew for a tv series. And although i liked the new movie, i want one done about the Voyager, ENT, or DS9 crews, i mean even though there new, Kirk and Spok have been over done,7 movies now, we need another crew.

JONGSSTRAW

ALL the Star Trek series had some great episodes. It's pretty expensive to go out and buy them all, so I've been buying the Fan Collective Series sets. These complilations of usually 14-16 "themed" episodes give a great cross-section of all the different Treks, and feature the best episodes, many of which I had never seen. That's the most fun for me...finding new (for me) material to enjoy. My personal favorites are the new "Alternate Realities" set & the "Time Travel" set, which includes almost every single Trek time-travel episode made. Alternate Realities features 5 different "Mirror Mirror" episodes and the beloved Inner Light.

I wasn't a big fan of Ent, thought I liked it better than Voyager. Howvere, I highly doubt they'll ever revisit the temporal cold war story - given that they essentially abandoned it when the series was still on.

And I wouldn't hold my breath for a new series any time soon. Maybe after a couple more movies, but no sooner. And even then, it'll likely be set in the "new" time frame.

The TNG era, outside of books, is done.

I'm totally okay with that. When I initially heard what Abrams was gonna do with Trek, I feared the worst. Now I feel it's the only way they should have gone with it.
Except that the new phasers look "meh."

The only real mistake Abrams made, the only thing you need never redesign.

Listen! yes we have a new set of ACTORS, but the characters are the same, and if you think the timeline's different, listen to what Spock Prime tells Spok at the end, he says, "The timelines are not as different as you may think."

Now as for calling the TNG era dead, FRACK YOU! They have so much more to do, we have never seen the Beta Qyuadrent, to my knowladge, and have only discovered what, 1% of the Delta Quad, and they can make a series following the books written by THE KIRK, Mr. William Shatner, yes the Captain's series and the books preceding it. Now if you can't at least ackowladge that, i'll send your coordinates to the Cylons, and let them deal with you, Kay!

I agree with the TNG era--all the characters have moved on--Picard's on the Enterprise, Riker has another ship with Troi (can't remember the name), Data's gone, Worf's an ambassador and Laforge probably has his own ship like he had in an alternate timeline of Voyager. This is what happens in the military--You serve with people for a time, then they get promoted or transferred and move on.

How about the Enterprise B or C? Plenty of opportunity there.

P.S. Couldn't agree with you more about the phasers. Didn't much care for the communicators either.

CYBERSNARK

The "Prime" timeline isn't done, it's just gone prose-only --which is good, actually, because Trek works far better in prose than it ever has onscreen.

As for character updates:

Select to view spoiler:

Riker & Troi are on the Titan, as is Tuvok (who taught briefly at the Academy, then got tapped for a Starfleet Intelligence mission to Romulus that went pear-shaped --he was on the ground when Nemesis happened and ended up needing to be extracted after the dust settled).

Worf has returned to the Enterprise, rejoining Picard, Beverly, and Geordi.

Alexander has replaced his father as Federation Ambassador to Quo'nos.

Sisko has returned from the Wormhole and is enjoying an "open-ended leave" (i.e., retirement-with-benefits) on Bajor with his wife and infant daughter (and his son and daughter-in-law).

Bajor has joined the Federation, Captain Kira is in charge of DS9, Ro Laren is her security chief, Quark is still running his bar, "Chief" Nog is the station's chief engineer, and Julian is still the doctor. Vic Fontaine's lounge is still running 26/7.

Morn is still. . . Morn.

Ezri transferred to command-track and is now Captain of the Aventine

Rom & Leeta are on Ferenginar.

The O'Briens are on Cardassia, helping the reconstruction (Keiko got offered a job, and Miles left his teaching job).

Garak has become the Cardassian Ambassador to the Federation (he's living in Paris on Earth).

Odo is still in the Gamma Quadrant, and is now one of only two remaining Founders after the severing of the Great Link. He, Laas, and Weyoun are trying to hold the Dominion together on the brink of a civil war and/or at least one (as-yet-unrelated) religious crusade.

Janeway is dead (sacrificed herself to try to stop a Borg invasion). Chakotay has resigned his commission. Seven is now Annika, and is still on Earth. Harry is now Voyager's security chief, Tom is first officer under a new Captain. B'Elanna is in hiding with their daughter.

The Doctor is on the Galen as chief medical officer.

And that's not even counting all the characters who haven't even appeared onscreen (or who showed up for an episode or two and were then "forgotten").

EDIT because I forgot Odo.
