I like the trailer, but I'll wait for the Blu-Ray. I don't get to the theater too often.

Ditto !

It just occurred to me that Sam Worthington looks sorta like a really young Dennis Quaid...

This film will be a career-maker for Sam .

Zoe Saldana from the trek film plays a role , also .

Giovanni Ribisi , Sigourney Weaver , and isn't that Michelle Rodriguez ? Nice job on the casting...

I ditto your ditto and raise you a "Can't Wait".....

The trailer looks awesome. Imagine Cameron waited 10 years to get this puppy going. It should be amazing.

I agree about the casting in this movie. Cameron is a special director, he knows how to put together a great action-adventure spectacular.

Had to mention on here...

I went to that Avatar Day thing back a while ago at Imax. We saw...3 or 4 scenes? 15 minutes of footage in total. All in 3D. This was pre-trailer (or, the trailer was released that morning, but I hadn't seen it yet when I saw the preview.)

Now, so far all the trailers I've seen have been fairly underwhelming. Sure, it looks nice, but so much of the footage has been slowed down, and looks jittery, and you don't get a good look at the animation and feel of the creatures and effects. Also, hardly any story is shown, particularly in the first trailer. Both trailers are very montage, quick-cut heavy, and that always irritates me in trailers.

So what I'm saying is this.
If you like the trailers, judging from the footage I saw at Avatar Day, you'll love the film. Even if it's just for the look of it, as I can't promise the story will be anything fantastic. But honestly, I enjoyed the heck out of the preview, and can't wait for this movie to come out! I'll be there opening day, 3D glasses on, praying that Cameron has done it again.

(In case someone has missed this, the ENTIRE PLANET of Pandora is computer generated. All that foresty stuff and what not? CGI.)

(Also, there's some mild spoilers in the below clip, but it's a pretty interesting "making of a scene", showing some of the technology and how it all came together.)

I'm going to buck the overall trend in this thread and say that I haven't been impressed by the trailers I've seen.

STORYMARK

I havn't been blown away by the trailers myself. But I have more than enough confidence in Cameron's skills to get me to the theatre opening weekend.

Personally, I'm trying not to watch a bunch of trailers on this because I'm waiting for the main event. I'm waiting to be Wowed. Avatar, for sure, is a roll of the dice for Cameron and company, so I'm going along with that roll only because of his rep.

These are my favs by Cameron:

T1, T2
Aliens
Titanic
True Lies
and perhaps my all-time fav by him The Abyss.

Not a bad track record. Of course, everything is relative and Avatar could very well bomb. I mean stranger things have happened.

BTW found out that Cameron was given a hard time by film crew and talent alike when he took the reins from Ridley Scott in filming Aliens. Even though he had great success with The Terminator (which he made for under $7 Million). Who'd of thunk it.

It shows to go ya'

Well, I've been thoroughly impressed by the trailers, which look great in 1080p on my 20" iMac, and sound great with headphones on!
Even though I've seen a bunch of clips through the interactive trailer < http://www.avatarmovie.com/air/> that pretty much give away the whole plot, I know I'm still gonna have my mouth hanging open much of the time on opening day.
I've never been to a 3D presentation, since I wear glasses, so I'm worried about that.

COZEN

Having seen the whole flick -- hey, it's my job, it's what I do -- I'm fair certain ya'll will find Avatar entertaining enough to warrant the price of admission and the heavily marked up popcorn 'n sodas.

Heavily reliant on CGI scenes, as in about half the movie, it's awesome CGI throughout, well integrated. No worries on that score.

And I like the fact that from the first frame of the picture through to the very end of the credits this film runs 2 hours, 45 minutes. Consider the fact that if I'm paying for the price of admission and over valued popcorn, I'm the guy who desires a bladder testing running time.

Possibly massive caveat: I've not seen any portion of this flick in 3D, ergo I've nae clue as to how that experience effects viewing pleasure.

Plotwise and thematically, well, if you don't go into viewing this flick with the expectations of a Serenifly, then your viewing pleasure will not be compromised.

cozen says: unlike the Star Wars prequels, this is entertainment worthy of not waiting for the dvds. Let the double negatives be your guide.

Wait a sec... the SW prequels aren't worth any consumer investment in any format. But I digress.

Don't be CL. I saw Coraline in 3D and it was fantastic. It felt like you were watching a live performance.

Anyways, Avatar has the latest in 3D tech - so I'm pysched!

What I'm saying is it pretty much depends on the tech and director - both, of which, seem top notch.
