Does anybody remember this show? I just finished watching the DVDs and as if I didn't need one more reason to be pissed at F*X, I have it.

What an interesting premise with great characters. Some spotty scripts, but as we all know, the first year can be kind of experimental.

Anybody else? I'd recommend it if you haven't seen it.

Sure , it was pretty good...The list of reasons to be angry with this F-network is as long as one's arm...

If you like that one , check out 'Space Rangers'. It has more of Firefly's 'edge'...

Also , much recommended is Earth2...I think it was on ABC along about 1994 ; it got about twice as many episodes done before being canned...Imagine , sending settlers to a distant planet , and lettin' 'em have guns ! Apparently that doesn't sit well with some Folk in ultra-liberal wHolly-Weird...

I was just to the point of forgiving F*X for canceling S:AAB, when they screwed over Firefly...

Yep, have the full set here, never got to see it on TV but once (Stay with the Dead) but it looked compelling, and was of course cancelled before I could get into it, rrrgh.

Then I bagged the DVD set, and after watching (The Angriest Angel) and (Who Monitors the Birds)... I was as you say, pissed at F*X all over again.

The Battle Montage/Crossover from Angriest Angel has to be one of the best pieces of quality to ever air on that hellspawned network.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I remember watching every episode and loving them. Not a Firefly level of love mind you, but not far off. When Fox pulled the plug I did not watch them for over a year. Called their office and ranted on some low level exec who could not have cared less.

Took forever for the ruttin' dvds to come out, but I picked them up. Too bad Fox was too cheap for extras and commentaries.

The UK set released a year or two ago has quite a few nice extras.

A 75min documentary about the show, featuring the cast and crew.
Deleted scenes
A few other featurettes
Commentaries on several episodes

Unfortunately, it's Region 2 so it won't work on US Region 1players.
Fortunately, I have a Region-free player.

It is a damn fine set.

I remember "Space: Above and Beyond" and really liked it even when it was a bit corny or over the top gung-ho there was an energy and spark that drew me in and a very likeable cast. Fun to spot a few guest appearances from people like Doug Hutchison who many will recall played the creepy but brilliant "X-Files" villain Eugene Victor Tooms. I was upset when it was cancelled as the story was not properly finished giving the characters closure and I really liked some of the original ideas.

As for Fox they killed off so many shows I loved like "Strange Luck", "Harsh Realm" and "Firefly" that it is hard to credit them with the wit to spot a good series when it falls in their gorram lap. Yup, they just have to be purplebelly descendants.
