Really bad? Really, REALLY bad, that I enjoy anyway?

American Idol. Or, as I call it, American Idle.

I just can't watch it anymore. It's a timesoak, and I don't have the time. Plus it's pure garbage, in its unadulterated and concentrated form.

And The Starlost looks kinda cool, from the pic you posted. Looks like elements of Silent Running there, and Keir Dullea from 2001? How can that be a bad thing?

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I barely recall watching part of an episode of The Starlost, so I can't comment on whether I would have continued watching and enjoying it. Maybe I'll get it from Netflix one of these days.

American Idol is to your brain what cavities are to teeth:wink: About the Starlost, it is cool. It's 70's Canadian sci-fi. The Ark(the ship) is built to save earths inhabitants of a cataclysmic event. Comprised of connecting domes. Each dome(roughly 70 miles in diameter) has its own culture and civilization of inhabitants.

After a group of 3 young people break away from their dome in defiance, they wander through the entire massive Ark encountering a different "dome" each episode. Helping the inhabitants with problems, or learning something about the human condition.

In theory, a great idea for a sci-fi show. It is the execution that is lacking. The ultra low budget, and acting(the female Gay Rowan is sometimes caught chuckiling and smiling in a humorless scene) are somewhat....bad.

But that is also the "charm" of the show. I like cheeseball 70's stuff, while other are like "What in the Hell are you watching?"

I enjoyed Quark, and I'm happy to own it on dvd. The humor is dated, but it's still fun to watch.

I don't think you can get hold of this anywhere but Deepwater Black (Mission: Genesis) was a terrible show but I'll always like coz of Nicole DeBoer. It used to be on Saturday afternoons over here and I wish I'd kept the tapes.

Buck Rogers (80's) as well. So camp, so crap but amazingly watchable. With cool starfighhters as well.

I actually liked Cleopatra 2525. The 1/2 hour shows got better each week, and by the 2nd season the shows were extended to one hour. The Series "finale" gave a glimpse as to how it would have gotten even better, but alas, the plug got pulled. The show's main character, Hel (for Helen), left to do something that didn't even last as long as Cleo did......something called Firefly.

The Original. Not the newer one that came out in the '90's. Never seen that one.

Horrible to watch today (except for nostalgia's sake) but I do love my DVD collection so! Drives my wife nuts when I watch it, 'cause she can't understand what they are saying and can't grasp the technology/powers they have. Hee hee.

My Wife: "What did they say?" Me: "They're (John & Co.) are letting them go." My Wife: "But what did they say?" Me: "Shoosh. I just told you. Let me just paraphrase or I'll never get through this episode." My Wife: "Well, why didn't they just kill them?" Me: "They can't kill. That's the thing. They're evolved." Along with UFO, 1999 was more of a curate's egg, I'd say: good in parts.

Great special effects, great sets, great ships* generally high production values until you hit the science... Oh my sweet fluffy lord, most SF has dodgy science but Space 1999 really strained the ol' suspension of disbelief.

Mind you - it scared the bejesus out of me when I was a kid.

(* yes, I owned a Dinky Toys' UFO Interceptor. And a SHADO Mobile. No, I actually played with them and didn't keep the boxes so they're all knacked up and not worth money).

Battlestar 1980....ummm can't believe they tried to keep the series going with that. Space Academy was lots of fun. I don't remember Misfits of Science well enough, but I remember it used to be on NBC Friday nights.

EArth Final Conflict was pretty bad and the dvd sets now fetch upward of $100.

Greatest American Hero....Yes I own the seasons on dvd. Its quite poor indeed. Only bought them because nostalgia is such a vicious bitch.

I had such a love for TRON, I watched pretty much anything that slightly resembled it. I mean c'mon a car with NEON on it!!! For the 80's that was cooler than a Penguins dangly bits!

Right now though I caught an episode of the British supernatural series DEMONS... and I aside from the obvious Buffy comparisons I kinda enjoyed it.... May continue to watch this one...
