Warner Archive is, like, a name for the geek department over there, I assume. Not REAL DVD releases, just VERY good fan burns. Expensive fan burns. Nice clamshell, no menu, strange when paused, not widescreen as advertised (but then I didn't see how it could have been). Like they did it in someone's furnished basement.
Good picture & sound for a 1974 unused pilot that wasn't taken very good care of, though. As a mega-fan of this TV movie, I'm pleased.

So, John Saxon plays Dylan Hunt (a sort of Earth-bound Kirk here) saving the post-apocalyptic future by kicking Kreeg (think cross between klingons & the Humongous boys from Road Warrior) butt, while wooing two fine babes, one good & one not so good.

If you're desperate like I was, get it. It might be cheaper by a couple dollars somewhere else... and this place charges $5 minimum S&H. *Coughrip*

Likes to mess with stuffs.

This later became Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, staring Kevin Sorbo as Dylan Hunt. The Kreeg became the Magog.

The first season was very good.

Personally, I really liked Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict more than Andromeda. Again, EFC was somewhat based on the same material.

The first season was just awesome along with a great soundtrack, which I have.

Yes Haken, and I liked the second season very much too. After that, *meh*.

And Earth: Final Conflict's first season was very cool.

But Planet Earth was my favourite. Very Trek-like.

Yeah, after Robert Hewitt Wolfe left Andromeda, things just went bad.

Same could be said of E:FC after Kevin Kilner left. I never liked the Liam Kincaid character. It just changed the whole mood of the series.

Now that I think about it. The Global used in E:FC is today's iPhone. Was ahead of its time in a lot of ways about what the future (today) was like.

Agree on both counts.

I read a blog by RHW where he outlined his ultimate direction for Andromeda, fascinating it was.

Oh well, more eff-with/eject the creator stuff.
No wonder the Gods left Earth, eh?

John Saxon...
*smirk*

I might pick that up myself, see, Saxon is a dead ringer for my father, who wasn't a very nice dude, and thus it amused me greatly to see Battle Beyond the Stars with Saxon playin Sador - and oh so well, that "your stuff is MY stuff" speech is truly epic hammery...

Now THAT, my friends, is serious smack talk.

Don't forget, Dylan Hunt was first portrayed by AIRWOLF's Alex Cord in 1971!

(That was the one with Mariette Hartley and her two navels!)

Apparently, it's also available through the Warner Archive collection.
