Sounds like Paramount is doing everything in their power to make this impossible task a reality. YES!!! Bring them on Baby. And for those Trekkies who think the original series on Blu-Ray are minor upconverts from the SD discs, think again. on my 40" Sony in 1080P the episodes look worlds better. I can hardly get through an episode the colors and crispness are practically too beautiful to behold.

Well, if this happens maybe Fox will consider ways of bringing Buffy to Blu.

"everything in their power"?

Uh, did you read the whole article?

Sure, they're talking about it, but they have been for years, and as the article points out, it would be extremely expensive and take a very long time, and there is nothing in their upcoming budget or schedule that allows for it. So, if it happens, it'll be years off t best, and the sets will likely be very expensive.

I'd love to see it happen and all, but I've heard this before, so I'll have to maintain a "believe it when I see it" attitude on this one.

Van Citters expressed optimism noting "It is being worked on and I expect it will happen, it is just a technical challenge."

My opinion of course, you can probably expect the first season or two around the release of the next Trek movie. Studios tend to strike while the marketing of said franchise is at its peak, and I'm sure the next film will be white hot.

Besides this is Star Trek, even if the prices for the Blu-Ray sets are upward of $100, they will still sell like crazy.

I once read a comment by someone (when Voyager was announced as a series) that said you could put dog crap in a box, stick a Star Trek label on it and call it 'The Captains Log' and it will sell by the millions.

I'd expect a fair sight more than that. The TNG DVD sets were $140 when they were released, and the TOS Blu Rays, which were much, much cheaper to make, had an MSRP of $130 at release.

Very cool. Hope they're affordable, or available for streaming.

But it *sounds to me* like they're going to remaster the live action, and re-do the FX from scratch digitally...
Which would be okay with me, incidentally. But if so, much screaming will ensue.
