There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Outcasts premiered tonight, Feb. 7, on BBC One, and will begin on BBC-America on Feb. 19. I believe this first series will be eight episodes.

I'm not necessarily giving it a recommendation. I did like the first ep but it's too soon to tell how it will turn out. The best thing about it was a couple of very unexpected occurrences, since most shows are very predictable. The only actors with whom I am familiar are Jamie Bamber (BSG) and Eric Mabius (Ugly Betty). The latter didn't make an appearance until the last minute but I think he will be a major player in the other eps.

It is set on the Earth-like planet of Carpathia, where the human settlement is about ten years old and it has been a very long time since the last transport ship from Earth. Lots of political and social intrigue that was just hinted at tonight, but we should be getting more back-story soon.

Keeping order in every verse

I've seen 2 eps now and I like it. It's been a long time since this country produced some truly cerebral sci-fi.The premise is almost Firefly.Earth is fucked by impending nuclear war and an evacuation programme finds another planet to live on.
The Carpathian president has started to clone humans in order to speed up the furtherment of the species, but things went a little awry and he ordered the clones to be executed. The guy who was supposed to carry out the order let them go free and now they live as outcasts.
What I really love about it,is that it's not Americans that have saved the human race from extinction, but none other than us good old Brits.lol.
We even have an American baddie amongst a British cast, rather than the reverse, which makes a welcome change. It hasn't quite got into full swing yet, but it looks promising.Seems to have a fairly big budget too. Some of the CGI looks pretty good.
It's about time we had some meaningful sci-fi and not just the tosh you know as Doctor Bloody Who!!!!

Why is Doctor Who not meaningful?

Keeping order in every verse

Well, now the BBC has joined the ranks of the Fox Network.
After an inspired 8 episode first series that got more and more appealing as it went, has been cancelled by the BBC. The first season finished on a cliffhanger that will now nevwer be resolved.

Even the BBC is now ratings based. Gits.!!!

No matter the country, putting money into a show that people don't watch is rarely sustainable for long.

Times is tough for scifi TV...
