I just discovered A British series called "Star Maidens". Made in the late 70's and only lasted 13 episodes. Super low budget and only a half hour long. Not time enough to give full development of the story. A reverse of a "Space 1999" with a clash of cultures between Earth and the planet Medusa, that ends up in orbit in our solar system. I can't help but wonder how many other gems there are out there. If your interested in any science fiction show, even of a poor quality, you can find this on YouTube. Garth Thomas from Blakes 7 is in it, that may spark your interest.

America loves a winner!

Never heard of it. Sounds interesting.

Sorta related, I saw some space show, and the topic of rogue planets was brought up. Said there could be a vast number of inter stellar planets, having been sling shot out of their home system, into almost any direction.

Apparently a comet passes so close it pulls the planet Medusa out of orbit and forces them to move underground when the planet's surface freezes over. Which seems more plausible then the explosions on "Space 1999" that send the Moon off.
Women rule and men are subservient. This causes an embarrassment when two men escape to Earth and demand sanctuary.
It's sets and special effects remind me of "UFO". They bring up the fact that the spaceships are traveling millions of miles per hour and then show them turn in space like a car turning a corner. So some effects are up to the standard of the time, while others are poor. A little more common sense would have gone a long way.
Some episodes are serious, while others are silly. My favorite character is Octavia, who exemplifies the prejudice the women of Medusa have of men. She is a product of their culture and truly believes men are inferior. I enjoyed her snubbing the men on Earth.

The Starlost

1973-1974 / 16 episodes

Created by Harlan Ellison

Starred Keir Dullea

Involved a giant spaceship called THE ARK which was composed of hundreds of domes, each of which contained a sample culture from the planet Earth, which had long since died out. This giant space ship had an accident somewhere along the way in an asteroid storm which killed the crew that was piloting it, so now it's careening toward an ucharted solar system. The character played by Keir Dullea gets forced out of his dome and goes roaming around the ship with his 2 friends, trying to set the course correct.

Project UFO

1978 - 1979 / 26 episodes

Created by Jack Webb

About two US Air Force officers investigating UFO sightings. Show was based on cases from Project Blue Book. Kind of a prequel series to X Files.

Other good sci-fi series:

The Time Tunnel - 1966

The Invaders - 1967

Land Of The Giants - 1968

Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea - 1964

What Would Mal do ?

nother one you'll never find on DVD...series that never made it out of season 1...Other World.

premise is a family (scientist parents) get lost underground and weekly chase these monolith stuctures that find them in different worlds/cultures..from a town entirely populated with androids to something out of nazi germany...writing was actually good, directing was also nice for TV budget show... our kids were young and we actually enjoyed watching it and were disapointed when it cancelled....

Land of the Giants?....at 12yrs old...the mini skirts, tights n boots were definitely catching my attention.. can't recall a single plot..didn't matter.. (lol)

Land of the Giants - I was 15, so the pretty girls in the miniskirts were very important! I remember it being a pretty good show because there were some good actors in it. A group of people had crashed their spaceship on a planet similar to Earth, but the inhabitants were giants and they weren't very friendly. The plots were mostly about trying to find a way to stay alive and get out of there.
