Looks interesting. Yahoo search hasn't heard anything about it's existence, but imdb search has it.

Seems like SciFi, anybody seen previews or interviews about it?

No, but that's only because I've read just a very brief synopsis, have not seen any promos for it at all, and I don't want to see any. If I choose to watch it I want to be as surprised and unaware of what to expect as possible.

America loves a winner!

Probably won't be able to get into this one, even though it looks like a decent show.

Not the first time we've been introduced to a team or person who has near unlimited intelligence and puts those skills to good use, either fight crime or righting 'wrongs'. It's a popular formula, which I think we could use more of in the real world. Sadly, we have far too many wanna-bees who pretend , but I guess we have to start somewhere.

From what I've been able to garner from publicity, it is actually based upon real people or events. Apparently, the core group is 4 with average IQ of 175 between them, plus some tyke who's bright and the tyke's mom, who effectively translates from them to the real world (the dummies of real world). Sounds more interesting.
As long as they don't just proclaim them as "high-IQ" and then dumb them down to the level of Big Bang Theory nerds, it has potential. Most shows with "High-IQ" characters get trapped into dumbing them down enough for the masses to think it is funny (and implying that the dummies in the audience are also smart because the dummies on TV are proclaimed as smart), and that gets old quick - except for advertisers.

Regarding your mention of good works, there actually is a well-known hi-IQ society which was in fact formed to help society and civilization solve it's problems. This has not helped much because society and politicians do not want solutions or an end to problems.

Saw it last night. Nothing else on in it's time slot? Best Pilot I saw last night, with Gotham and Forever.

Much better than the trailers led me to believe. The leads seem to be a little bit dumbed down, for the audience to empathize with, but not too much so far. All the highlights in the ads made much more sense with the full story behind it, which is not always the case in other works.

Anybody else like it?

As for what else is in that time slot, I watched Sleepy Hollow on Hulu this afternoon, but decided I'll take it off my watchlist too. Nothing there for me until Jane the Virgin starts on Oct. 13 on The CW.

How disappointing. Saw the second episode.
Apparently all of the characters have been dumbed down, practically as dumb as the Butt-Bang Theory characters. One guy has debilitating OCD, and the only smart character left is the autistic kid.

I've been wondering if it is coincidence that the lead actor looks similar to Kirk Cameron - from another series which dumbed down the smart character to give greater appeal to the masses.

I'll probably give it another shot, but it looks dismal for now.

Katharine McPhee. Kadyn is just backup, honestly she could phone in what she does. I think they picked Kathy because she seems non-threatening, and for a woman to seem non-threatening to other women it's kinda rare. I have the opposite vibe. Watching this, I keep hearing the lead character refer to others as "normals" which really irks me, does not sound realistic, and yanks me out of the suspension of disbelief. I have never heard any of the geniuses or high-IQ people I know use this term. It is not even a term that occurs to me, either.

Have any of you ever heard of somebody use this term, outside of TV or film? I mean in real life. This just sounds alien to me, as if the term was originated in another country. Yes, the lead character is from the UK, but the term still grates. If I ever heard of this term spoken, it would have been from a wannabe who was trying to impress.

Anybody?

Well, I have heard use of neuro-typicals and non-neuro-typicals frequently. He calls his group "enabled" and in some ways they are and in some ways they aren't

People who have special abilities and higher IQ's ARE different in many ways. It can make living an isolating thing and many tend to become arrogant about their talents in order to cope. I won't say what mine is(mainly because I don't believe that IQ tests have any relevance to skill or achievement or even being human), but I will say that the average American has an IQ around 100. I am not near 100. Unless you have a vast experience reservoir to draw from, an IQ of 100 means you probably ARE a neuro-typical. Does that make you less or wrong? Not necessarily. It just means you are more likely to answer certain questions or think in a more predictable fashion. Some of the nicest people I've met are well below the 100 mark. I'd probably take them over an arrogant ass for most things, but I will say they aren't very...stimulating... sometimes.

Was reading an interview about Susan Boyle, who has Aspergers. I think it sums up what a lot of high-functioning people feel like- outnumbered.

Almost all High-IQ people possess the complete set of indicators/syptoms for Asbergers - one reason why many consider Asbergers to be a fictional diagnosis.

Never heard of "neuro-typicals" either. Where do you live, or what career field are you in, that you have heard these terms before? I have not heard high-IQ people use these terms in CA, WI, OK.

The other item I was going to mention, but seemed to have forgotten, was their use of numbers for IQ on the show. If any one of them is half as smart as they claim to be, they would know that the numbers are essentially meaningless, yet they use them as if they mean something. They seem to be using the assumption that is the lead guy is around 197ish and 4th highest recorded IQ, then they must be referencing the scale by which Marilyn Vos Savant was recorded at over 200. I admit I have heard High-IQ people unfamiliar with the terms (as well as wannabes) use numbers like this, but these clown on the show act like they throw the numbers around willy-nilly and just try to impress others who are not them. This also yanks me out of the suspension of disbelief.

Oh, honey...You'll have to trust me on the Asperger's thing as I'm married to one. It exists. It is a vastly different mindset than simply having a high IQ. There's a reason it comes with an 85% divorce rate. If they were just smart they could realize that their behaviors hurt others but many can't without a ton of therapy. I also have a child with a learning disorder and had the same as a child that went undiagnosed. I spend a lot of time reading anything medical and comments on websites to try to understand both.

Having the internet is a privilege. While most people spend their time looking at pics of Kim Kardashians bum or latest vid, I've spent a lot of my time reading things like this :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mental_disorders

I believe you can't begin to understand humanity or yourself until you can understand what makes it all tick. It's made a lot of my life make sense where none was before I can tell you that....

I think Scorpion is doing a lot of "dog and pony show effect." They want to validate that these are smart people and they want you to accept that they are smarter than you, and a LOT of people cannot accept that without a measure stick of some kind. I've spoken to a few people who can't have a conversation with ANYONE new without mentioning their IQ, and I agree it's obnoxious. But then IQ and EQ are two VERY different things

Do you find it entertaining when these people insist upon this tactic when they are speaking to somebody with a far higher IQ that they are spouting - whether they ever realize it or not? I have found they seldom figure out that the person they were trying to impress was far beyond their league. I also find that some of us linger and eavesdrop on such intercourse due to the sheer hilarity and hypocrisy.

I was wondering - how did these people introduce the concept of their superior IQ? Did they just state some number that identifies them, or something else?

I had largely forgotten, I had heard of one girl who while in school regularly related to others that she was so smart, and apparently felt smarter than others, and stated she was a member of a High-IQ group. I herd this from many people, and without exception they were all turned off by the conversation.

But I still had not heard of normals or neuro-typical.

Most people who have higher IQs tend to gravitate to others with high IQs and the subject just comes up sooner or later, but I find that the people who LEAD OFF with the subject of IQ are desperate to compensate for what they perceive as their own low value. Abandonment by a parent or spouse and failure at a vocation seem to be common factors, at least with the people I've talked to. I was put in advanced placement classes as a kid, so I had some idea I had a few extra points and I use those points to be the very best housewife I can be
I have a hard time dealing with people because of it though. Anyone wanting to tell me what to do or say I have a tendency to tell them where to go.

You know what bugs me about the show? Elyes Gabel has a big scar on the left side of his face that goes through his lips up to his nose and they keep filming that half of his face in dark so it's not as noticeable but them trying to hide it is actually what is distracting to me It looks like maybe a sporting or a bike injury, but the internets doesn't seem to know....

He's still cute though

Last night had so-called SEALs along, with leader supposedly smart enough to be an Officer. Sure, he was stupid enough to be given a General rank in UDF, but he was certainly not smart enough to pass the IQ test for U.S. Commissioned Officer. I am, lol.. 2019, 2nd series just aired in UK. I started watching after seeing ads between CSI episodes & assuming it was another CSI spin-off, but now I'm hooked! & gutted the series has ended, with no idea if we'll get to see more. It's far fetched, kind've predictable & soppy at times -Paige/Walter 'romance'- yet I LOVE it! - Intelligence as a super-power, & all the different characters; their interaction interests me, along with the science bits. Especially Walter, I relate to his logical outlook, plus he's fair attractive, & Happy - a female character that actually makes SENSE to me! Plus she has the best, fabulous, clothes.
Not sure of Paige's role as 'translator for geeks'; seems unrealistic - although Asperger's (which Walter shows traits of) can be more apparent in males regarding social situations; females are more conditioned to socially 'fit' from an early age & quickly learn to mimic peers to avoid rejection & bullying, to mask what they know NTs find 'weird' - NTs are wired to be intolerant - it's why AS is often late diagnosed in women, if at all. Along with a general lack of awareness, I'd naively assumed Asperger's was only men, as apparently did all the Drs I'd seen over the years; imagine my surprise. :'D *Hoping Series 3 will be shown on CBS UK soon..
