Man, I didn't realize how many fantasy, sci-fi shows were on this network. I generally don't watch, but man, The Flash is really impressed me so far.

Clever writing, a new villain every week, and Tom Cavanaugh too.

I don't know the comic book version of The Flash too well, but what I've seen so far is keeping me tuned.

And there's already been a cross over episode from one of the characters from Arrow. ( Felicity Smoak ) MEOW

I'm glad yet another version of Batman is doing well. I've not caught it yet. I've lost track at how many times the story has been told. But as w/ The Flash, I'll likely power catch up with OnDemand or Netflix. Comcast tends to screw w/ folks who don't keep up w/ shows like that. They'll only go back so far in a current season and if you miss the pilot or first few eps, by mid season, they're no longer available.

Hell, I'm still behind on even getting to watch Sherlock SE 3 on BBC America.

Is Flash better than Arrow?

I think so. I've not stayed up w/ Arrow, but from what I remember, the story started out a bit overly conflicted and slow. Arrow took himself way too serious, and kept whining about what a d-bag he was before ship wreck. And he was. But then he grew up. He should learn from his past and get over it. That's when I bailed.

The Flash seems to be lighter, witty and well paced. His 'powers' seem to have come to him in dubious fashion, but it really does remind me of Spiderman. Barry Allen seems to be about the same age, smart, lost both his parents ( well, one's in jail ) and now leads a double life.

I just found it easier to tune into Flash than to keep up w/ Arrow. Even though Arrow has John Barrowman and who ever plays Felicity Smoak. WOWZA ! The cross over w/ Flash may bring me back to watching Arrow now, just to see more of her and her back story.

I say it's too soon to tell about The Flash. It has the potential to be better, but also the potential to get too bogged down in the "evil metahuman of the week" syndrome. At this time, Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash is the only character I care about.

The Arrow has had some ups and downs, most of the flashbacks are boring, and unfortunately the weakest point is the lead actor, Stephen Amell. I don't care for him as either Oliver Queen or Arrow, but there are quite a few supporting characters that I do like, Emily Betts Rickards as Felicity Smoak being my favorite. John Barrowman is always good but he hasn't had enough screen time, but that may change later in the season. I like Paul Blackthorne, Willa Holland and David Ramsey,

but unfortunately Susannah Thompson is no longer on the show

.

It's already in its third season, so I don't know if jumping in now is a good idea.

I was in for most of season one. Either there was a mid season break or something, but I think I missed some key episodes towards the end.

Totally missed season 2.

However, between Netflix and OnDemand, I think I can reacquaint myself with the show.

What I really didn't like about the show was how they interwove the back stories. They really seemed overly contrived and randomly placed. Just when I was getting use to the present, they brought up some sudden back story. Felt like they were trying for a bit of a LOST vibe, but it didn't quite work. Maybe another viewing will clear things up for me.

My comments were directed at JSF, not you, since I knew you had already seen some of the show while he had not.

I've caught parts of Season 1 and 2. More with Summer. But, like RapKnight said, those flashbacks throw me off as well.

I'm really liking The Flash. I think they nailed the tone. It's just light hearted enough to work. I really like the creepy doctor too. I hope his master plan is good enough to justify the build up. Felicity on Arrow may be hot but I think Caitlin on The Flash can give her a run for her money.

Speaking of Arrow I agree with the general sentiment that it has issues. The flashbacks really need to go. They're too clunky and take away from the main story. As was stated they do not work as well as the Lost flashback style. I still watch the show, but it's on the bubble for me. Felicity can only do so much.

Believe it or not, Felicity being hot is only a small part of why I like the character. Her geekiness, her willingness to do her part for the team (even though she does not have the fighting skills of the others), plus her sense of humor, makes every scene she is in better than it would otherwise be.

On the other hand, Caitlin has exhibited the least amount of emotion of any character on The Flash, so I don't have much to go on.

Yeah, they're really building up to 'something', and the latest message the cop got sure does paint a clearer picture.

Caitlin reminds me of an uptight version of Simmons, from Agents of Shield. I see a casual resemblance, too.

But I do like Felicity's spunk.

It was a really good episode. However, there's no way I'd call that a tie. Felt more like the Flash was playing with his prey.

One of the major problems with Arrow are the boring flashbacks, and thankfully they've limited them on The Flash to just a reiteration of what happened to Barry's mother and in a few instances with some of the other meta-humans.

The one on Arrow last night is probably the worst correlation between Oliver's past with the current action. They want us to believe that Waller cared so little for the consequences that she would assign a raw recruit, one who is there against his own free will and totally untrained in torture techniques, to get information out of a suspect before bombs go off in the city. Then she has the gall to blame Oliver for the result.

We get it. Oliver went through a lot of trauma and rough training that took him from a pampered playboy to the fighting machine he was when he returned to Starling City. We don't need all of the details of that process, especially when the scenes don't make sense. Just give us a few extra scenes with Felicity each week and drop the stupid flashbacks.
