TO EVERYONE WHO LOVE FARSCAPE:

I think it time to go to the extreme and send the "SCI-FI CHANNEL" a "CLEAR AND PRECISE MESSAGE",LEAVE FARSCAPE ALONE OR "loose you audience" so in a nice way I think the next round of e-mail should also include a notice the you a lover of "ORGINAL SCI-FI" are going to boycott the network if they cut FARSCAPE , but in a nice way and let them know that you are going to hold them responsible!!!

I've seen all the news clips on CNN and on local channels and news papers and still the SCI-FI channel thinks it can "DEFIE" the viewer's who are there audince...

Let's let them know that threres going to be consiqences, and repercusions if there going to dump the best "SCI-FI" ON TELEVISION!!!

They stuck it to the Babylon 5 fans, too, so I'm with you! Actually, this campaign should be widened because *a lot* of people are fed up with SFC, & not just Farscape fans.

Btw, I like Farscape, too.

Thank you Thsmith1963:
I agree about not being happy in the deriction with what sci-fi channel is going,It's like they decited to selfdestuct after ten hard years of try,and trying, and have given up!!!

Email sci-fi channel and inform them thats it's going to cost them a viewer or two if they dump "Farscape" enough of those and we can get atleast onther season out of them, witch is what they promised us to begin with!!!

How did the SFC stick it to B5 fans? By picking up the series and runing it chronological order for us over and over? Or because they didn't make Legend of the Rangers a series? (sorry, but it wasn't that good).

I won't boycott the SFC. Their existence is worth it alone just to see Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, and ST:TOS...since they have exclusive rights to those.

Yes, SFC did well in airing the B5 episodes all in chronological order... but you'll notice they're not doing it anymore. My complaint with the Sci-Fi Channel is that they seem content to undermine any relatively new content in favor of the old and/or cheesy.

Babylon 5? No longer on the broadcast schedule (at least from what I can see of their schedule at their web site).

The Invisible Man? Cancelled, with one of the worst "finale" episodes I've ever seen.

Farscape? Consistently bad writing and plot devices throughout the fourth season, and then a decision to cancel it. (I should note that I quite enjoyed the first three seasons... it's only recently that it's gone completely bad.)

ST:TOS just isn't enough of a draw for me, because it's old and recycled. They have no solid new content, which is what always draws in new viewers. The regular diet of B-movies ("Alligator 2"? "Lake Placid"? ) has utterly ruined any potential interest I might have in the things they air, particularly with the lack of good new content.

History doesn't always repeat itself. Sometimes it merely shouts "Weren't you listening the first time?!?" and lets fly with a club.

I've had it in for the Sci Fi channel ever since I noticed them censoring the language used in Fox's Alien Nation series when they ran it. I have no idea if other content was censored but it wouldn't surprise me.

Apparently the language used on Fox is too extreme for the Sci Fi channel.

I'm glad to hear that Fox will be releasing Alien Nation on DVD in 2003, though!! I really enjoyed that series and the follow up TV movies when they ran.

They're not even playing Star Trek any more! And they stopped Quantum Leap! Forget their new shows, they can't even keep the good old shows up!

And is it just me, or have their commercials gotten even creepier? The burrowing plants that ate birds I could handle. But the guy whose head eats a bird?

You are strange and offputting.

Speaking of Sci-Fi abandoning science fiction programming, J. Michael Strazynski today posted the following nugget about Polaris, a series he was developing for the network. If you had any doubts about Sci-Fi ignoring their name, this should change your mind.

Quote:

On Polaris...we got down to one of three projects of which one or two would be greenlighted for production. It went down to the wire, but finally SFC decided that the premise of Polaris was a little too science fictiony, when they were looking to go for ideas that had more immediate mainstream appeal. So even though they felt that Polaris was the best written of the projects they had in development, they went for a project about intergalactic (not interstellar, intergalactic) vampires called "Bloodsuckers." It is, to be fair, one of those concepts that, when you hear it, you get it, there isn't a lot of background needed.

It happens. Networks develop tons of shows but only green-light a handful every year. Showtime had something like 35 projects in development this past season, and picked 3. So at least we made it to the final cut, which is something.

We still feel strongly about Polaris, and once the turn-around period has expired, plan to bring it elsewhere.
