The t.v. series, not the movie.

So, watched the first ep, finally. I had forgotten I watched the first half of it already, hearing good things about it, but I stopped mid episode, thinking I had the wrong show.

Now I know better.

Now that Vikings is coming to seasons end, and I'm done w/ HBO ( yes, no GoT for me ) , it's time to start up some quality viewing. Orphan Black gears up, but... I digress.

Outlander. Anyone else watch the 1st season ? Was it worth following ? I'm a bit iffy on the premise , with the whole time travel stuff, as a rule. The whole paradox issue tends to creep up, no matter how one slices the story.

Unless one has a TARDIS, of course.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I watched the first episode when STARZ (it is on STARZ right?) made it available online ahead of the premiere. It was okay, but not good enough for me to upgrade my cable for that channel. I might give it another look if it ever gets to Netflix. I know nothing about the book series.

It's a book series ? Good grief, what ISN'T a book first these days ?

Now, you saw the 1st ep, and the manner in which Claire ended up in the past, right ? I found that part to be a bit half-assed, imo. Again, the whole time travel stuff ... bothersome.

By Diana Gabaldon. Up to 8 novels so far I think, plus a few shorter works in between a few of them.

I'll give it another episode or so. It's at least adult enough to keep my attention. Which reminds me, I need to also check out Black Sails. Saw a bit of that not long ago...

Plowed through almost all of season 1 now. For such a smart lass, Claire really does make some dirt dumb choices.

And why 3 Redcoats would be hanging out, in the middle of no where, to nab her right before she got to Craigh na Dun, was pretty ridiculous. That scene reminded me of Monty Python almost, where she's scurrying up the hill for several minutes, and seems to be FURTHER away from the circle than when she started. I hate it when they pull that crap in the movies / t.v.

But I digress. The show's still watchable, despite it being little more than a steamy romance novel.

Welp, I suppose it's still a decent show, but I'm finding less and less reason to watch. Claire just keeps making dumber and dumber choices. She was told to stay low and be careful, and literally in the next scene, she's off, by herself, doing exactly the OPPOSITE.

I have to give the writers and creators of a show involving time travel a measure of some respect. Seriously, how can you come up w/ this stuff ? Of course, were this to really happen, Claire would have been raped ( several more times ) beaten and likely burned at the stake, and then the show's over. Nothing left to tell.

Not very romantic, huh?
