Just a reminder. Enterprise returns tonight on UPN. I'm excited to see what happens next after last season's riveting cliffhanger.

Also tonight is the new Twilight Zone. Lets see if it's any better than the wonderful The Outer Limits was to its predecessor.

Lastly, FOX's Fastlane. Probably only worth watching because Tiffani Theissen is as hot as the cars and bikes.

I think Fox is marketing the hell out of Fastlane because deep down they probably know the show won't be any good. Although who would have thought Walker: Texas Ranger would last as long as it did. The theme song alone is reason enough to consider alcoholism as a career.

TZ should be pretty good and I'll probably watch Enterprise with the wife tonight. I didn't catch the entire season last year (the character of T'Pol drives me nuts) but I did see the finale and I liked it. Be interesting to see how they handle the conclusion.

Plus we can unfairly compare Enterprise to Firefly this week.

Well, if we tied one of Joss's hands behind his back, it might be a fair fight... Maybe we shold shackel his feet too...

I don't know. FASTLANE is getting fair to good reviews. Perhaps the show is better than expected, and FOX is promoting up the ass hoping it becomes it's new flagship.

You'd have to tape his mouth shut too. Still wouldn't be fair though -- his grunts are probably more creative than anything I've seen from the Star Trek Franchise in recent years.

So I checked it out and I admit it's decent and I would watch it again next week. Great production value with most of it being shot like a music video. Good banter between the main characters and the whole show felt as though it was Jerry Bruckheimer/Michael Bay's Bad Boys made for TV. They're definately not Crocket and Tubbs, although some of the music was from the same era--but the kids brought up listening to Backstreet Boys and N-Sync don't know that. Man, I felt old for saying that.

The thing about TV and me is... well when you're in college, watching TV isn't a really good idea. So when I shipped off I decided to pick a small elite few to keep up with. (The Whedon shows + Farscape next year). So a show has to look pretty unbelievable, fan--tastic, ohmigod-I-can't-wait-for-this-on-DVD, going-into-orgasams-watching-it kind of good. Also, I think that anyshow without lasers, slimy monsters, or people geting eaten is kind of a waste, so forgive me is Fastlane isn't exactly blowing my skirt up.

HJERMSTED

The Twilight Zone worked back in its hey day because there was nothing else like it on TV and the show, wrought with ironies, came about in an irony-free era. Unless you were a beatnick or a sci fi enthusiast all of the unconventional thinking in Serling's Twilight Zone was probably new and exciting to you.

Nowadays, other than as nostalgia, there's no way this formula could possibly work. Narrative irony surprises no one anymore (well, it might surprise someone like George W but that's no challenge). Last night's episode seemed as recycled as those troubled teens turned into fertilizer.

I wish the show lotsa luck. Hire the best writers you possibly can is my only advice.
