TALLCARDDEALER

I have just finished watching the first season of Twin Peaks on DVD (alas, no Pilot episode), and have also finished putting together a chart of the main cast/characters from said 1st season. This chart (even in work-in-progress form) helped me navigate my way through David Lynch's highly complex world of Twin Peaks. I would like to make another chart with the new characters that show up in the 2nd season of the show, so that I will be ready when I get the chance to watch the 2nd season. However, as I've never seen the second season, I have no idea exactly which characters should be included.

So, I need help. I will definitely include The Giant, Annie Blackburn, Windome Earl, Gordon Cole, Blackie O'Reilly (I know she was in the 1st season, but she seems to have more to do in the second), and Andrew Packard. Anyone else? Also, let me know which episodes these characters appear on (particularly their first), and give me some idea of how important they are, if you can.

Tallcard, thats a tall order!
This is one of my favorite shows.
Knowing the complexities of Lynch's show, telling you some of the info you are asking for might give things away. (i think)
I'm going to guess you are watching the DVD set, as it doesn't include the pilot. ???
Do you have access to the 2nd season?

Your assumption is correct. And no, I do not currently have access to the 2nd season. I'm hoping for either the release of the 2nd season on DVD or a Twin Peaks marathon on Bravo or something.

How about this: Forget about the characters from the second half of the season, let's just stick with the first half. As for spoiler worries, there's one I already know about: Andrew Packard is alive. I also know who killed Laura, but let's not worry about that.

I have the whole series on very old, repeatedly watched, VHS, originally aired recordings. When I got the first epi and 1st season on dvd it looked so great it got me hooked watching the series all over again. It was hard watching the last part on vhs after that.
Bravo will probabaly show it once again.
Have you tried getting the first episode dvd yet?

Do you like Lynch's other work or are you Twin Peaks only fan? I'm sort of in the middle.
I only recently saw Mulholland Drive. All I could say was a Mal-esque, "Huh."

I was so mad when I bought season one and then found out it didn't include the pilot.

I'm frankly amazed that the American versions don't include the Pilot. If any of you have multi region players, I suggest you buy the Region 2 versions, we get the pilot. Try www.amazon.co.uk ... natch.

How on earth can you tell what is going on without the pilot? I weep at the stupidity of executives.

I've only seen the First season on my trusty DVD set, is awesome. And...

*Choke*

That pilot is amazing. I weep for you, once again.

Very odd marketing decision. I think it's something to do with the pilot being previously available on R1 DVD?

(In reverse, see also the shiny Babylon 5 "Movie Collection", which misses two of five movies on R2 because there's an older edition still out there. Grrrrr.)

I think the reason the S1 set doesn't have the pilot is simply because, somehow, Artisan did not have the rights to it.

I've been thinking about checking out Babylon 5. They just released the B5 Movie collection, which includes the pilot.

I'm in no big hurry to see the second season of Twin Peaks at the moment. Making the second character chart is just something to occupy my time.

Yes, the rights were the issue for the lack of the pilot on the season 1 set. But the pilot (also called "The Northwest Passage") is available on DVD as an import (from Hong Kong)with a Region 0 coding. You can find it on Barnes&Noble.com or Amazon. This version isn't the European version; this import version has the ending and killer exposed. So, I suppose you could shut it off before the end or get a region-free player and order the Euro verison.

P.S. When David Duchovny was on Twin Peaks I never saw it, and when I was an X-Files fan later I went searching for it. I traded a copy of him in Playgirl to a girl in Texas for the tape of the episodes he was in! LOL.

I have the fortune of owning a copy of the pilot with commercial blacks (only black where the commercials are to be dropped in...like the Firefly DVD set).
One of my friends was a buddy of James Marshall's. He brought his copy to a party where we all watched the show about 2 weeks before it aired.
(General opinion was that it was either going to be a big hit...or a big failure. Me? I loved it from the get-go.)
I borrowed the tape and people disappeared so I sort of "inherited" it.
I bought a VCR because I knew ABC was going to run the entire season for summer re-runs. Still have that VCR...still have the whole set of tapes.
I was also amazed that the pilot wasn't included in the DVD set.

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

So what is "Twin Peaks/Fire Walk With Me"? It seems to be marketed in the USA as the original TV movie for the series.

Sorry, it was a post-series prequel.

Here's the Amazon.com page, with reviews. One reviewer goes into detail about the sound, which he characterizes as poor.

I have been watching all of the episodes on Chiller. I don't know exactly where I am, episode wise, but I am guessing it is somewhere late in the first season, but it could be the second season. I'll put where I am at in a spoiler, and if anyone knows where in the season/episode I am, can you let me know?

Select to view spoiler:

About two episodes ago, it was revealed that Laura Palmer's dad was the one who killed her. Now, Agent Cooper is under investigation for crossing the border, Cathrine Martell just blackmailed Josie into becoming her maid, and Deputy Moran isn't sure if Lucy is pregnant with his baby or some other guy's baby

Never mind, I just looked it up. I didn't realize the first season was only eight episodes, so I just watched episode 11 from season 2. Tonight, they air episode 12.
