FANTASTICLAUGHINGFAIRY

As Buffy was what first got me into Sci-Fi and the world of Joss Whedon, I will always have a soft-spot for it. I also happen to believe S5 to be one of the best series of the show so.... in my opinion, GO FOR IT!

Do you even have to ask that question? How could you watch 5 series and not the final 2?

WELL..... now that's an interesting question.

IMHO, seasons 6&7 are a bit of a disappointment after how much I enjoyed season 5, but they're still pretty good - I mean - it's Buffy.
I would probably reccomend season 6, although it does take the show off in a very much darker direction (and to be honest I preferred the earlier seasons), there are definitely some episodes worth catching. The musical episode is brilliant, even if you don't like musicals I'm sure you'd enjoy it and there are others like Tabula Rasa etc. Honestly, it's a bit like season 2 of Dark Angel. Worth it, because the show's great, and in this case because the writing and direction's good too. Unfortunately for me, it went in a direction I didn't like as much. I own the video boxsets though, so what does that say?

I also unfortunately, can't comment on season 7, as I've only seen it the one time when it was on TV. It again went in a direction I didn't like, but was, being Buffy, still pretty good (although I even preferred season 6.)

I think it's definitely worth seeing them, and probably worth buying at least season 6, just for the few classic episodes, and so you know what happens etc. On season 7 however, I may have to borrow my friends' video boxsets to review what happened.

SO - watch both, even if you decide to borrow them.
Buy season 6 if you feel like it and if your pursestrings stretch that far, try season 7, although I will withhold final judgement until I have rewatched some of it, I don't want you to be disappointed.

Sorry to be so vague. Shall report more next week hopefully.

Good, now this is the Chrisisall Season 5 thread. The Riley thread was getting too long.

Personally, I think Season 5 is overall very strong (but iffy in a couple of spots). One of the reasons is that it focuses a little more on Slayerosity. I also think Joss and the gang did a remarkable job of handling the storytelling challenges they created for themselves. So let us know when you start getting into 5.

As far as 6 goes, I think once you've seen 5, you'll be compelled to see 6. And you'll see why when you see how 5 ends.

I happen to be an Anti-Sixer. But the musical is a must-see. And you might love 6, or like it, or think it's just okay, or you may hate it.
But cross the season 6 bridge when you get there.

In the intrest of full disclosure I must say that like Fantasticflyingfairy I too own the box set of 6 (and 7--in fact I just finished watching 7 about two days ago). So, as she (or he) said "What does that tell you?". Mostly it tells you I'm a BUFFY freak.

So let's cross the 6 bridge when you get there. In the meantime, let us know your reaction(s) to 5.
