I realize Joss tried (and failed) recently to put together a second compilation of music featured in Buffy and Angel.

Does anyone know if an effort is underway (petition, etc) to make this album a reality? It seems to me that this would be a worthwhile endeavor. Perhaps Joss should try getting the second collection distributed through a smaller label (Rhino or Varese Sarabande come to mind).

The first BTVS album came out in 1999. This means no Buffy music from season four onward and no Angel music at all has been released on CD. I would love to have a collection that includes 'Blue' from Angie Hart (Conversations with Dead People) and the great main Angel theme. I also remember seeing Cibo Matto and Aimee Mann perform songs at the Bronze (among many others). How about those hilarious Angel karaoke numbers added throughout the collection as filler?

Needless to say, BTVS S.4-7 and Angel S.1-4 had some great music that would make a fantastic companion collection to the first BTVS album.

The "Buffy" soundtrack did include songs from season 4, i.e. Bif Naked's "Lucky" [The Harsh Light of Day] and Face to Face's "The Devil You Know (God Is a Man)" [Where the Wild Things Are], plus some songs that were never actually used on the series, although they had intended to use them, i.e. Hepburn's "I Quit" & Garbage's "Temptation Waits." A score soundtrack was produced a few years ago, but never published, because it was shot down by 20th Century Fox, who were convinced it wouldn't sell. I'm assuming the score music on the "Once More, With Feeling" soundtrack was lifted from this, although that's just my speculation. (You can find some score music and other Buffy music info @ http://www.buffymusic.net/. As far as I know, there were never plans to release a second volume pop soundtrack, but ME did intend to release an "Angel" pop soundtrack, but 20th shot that down also.

I would love another volume (or more) of music from the Whedonverse, but right now, it doesn't look like there will be any anytime soon.
