Was Anya de-demonized after being re-demonized in Season 6?

As far as I know, she was. It was the price she paid for not being a vengeance demon anymore - Hallie was destroyed, and Anyanka was out as a demon, and was a mere mortal.

Wow! I just, I mean, JUST finished watching "Selfless" twice. (Second time with the commentary.)

Yes, D'Hoffryn de-demonizes Anya (he says, "You're out") after resurrecting the 12 heartless  frat boys, and burning up Halfrek. Thus, it fulfills the prophecy that she will die a mortal.

Just as an aside, I haven't heard anyone mention the line from her song "I'll be his Missus." The line is "Mrs. Anya Lame-ass Made-up Maiden name." I'm putting it on the Facebook trivia as soon as I'm done here. The commentary walked right over it. Have you seen any mention of Joss' lyrics. I think it is one of the best forgotten-to-mention jokes in the series!

"And what's with all the carrots? Why do they need such good eyesight for anyway?"

I love Anya. Maybe she'll be returning in the comics?

FARFLY

Of all the characters Joss killed off in Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Serenity, the death of Anya was the hardest to take for me.. Strange how attached we can be to fictional characters.

My thoughts exactly! I'm just sitting down now to read the new arc in Season 8. Reading slooowlly, savoring every moment.

I laughed for a solid minute, upon Spoiler:

Dawn's transformation. At first, because she's clutching her lower abdomen, I thought she was going to give birth - remember the thricewise?- but now the result is too exciting.

I was definitely not expecting Dawn's metamorphosis. Interesting twist for little sis that's for sure.

Anya's death was one of the toughest for me(after Fred) in all of Buffyverse. It was so quick and undramatic and lost in the shuffle but that made it all the more poignant. And then her scenes with Andrew were just the best. Great character that Anya.

WHODIED

Anya is my all time favorite Whedonverse lady, even though 'she speaks with a strange evenness and selects her words a shade too precisely'.

I've always wished that Xander would've married her and that she survived...

Dang, it didn't work.

ONTHEDRIFT

Aww, I just finished Selfless too the other day and listened to the commentary. I love that ep. The 'lame-ass made up maiden name' line is one of my favorites. It's amazing to think that Joss wrote that song in a night. Too. Much. Talent. Anya has always been one of my favorites too, and frankly I hated how her death really did get lost in everything else that was going on. It made me think that perhaps it didn't really happen or it wasn't as bad as it looked - cause surely that wasn't it right. There'd be a little more fanfare or rather wailing and gnashing of teeth.(I know that it worked in the context of what was going on but that doesn't make it sting any less.) And while I mourned the loss of Anya I think Tara's death has always been the hardest for me, followed by Fred. Where's a crying emoticon when you need one?

Anya's death was right up there with Wash's for me in terms of the "Awwww, C'MON, NOOOOO!!!" factor.

Joss is a bastard, and then some.

But I'm still a fanisall

Anya is my favorite lady too. She was cheated in death. I'm going to step out on a limb and join Marsters in wishing the potentials hadn't taken up so much of the show. Her death was just kinda washed in as a number. Not cool.

Darn you Joss! Why do you make us rant? *sniff*

Yeah, the first time I saw Anya's death, I gasped. "Wha-?!" "What the HELL?!"

I was pissed. I was broken-hearted. And it was just so sudden and unnecessary - which is what makes it so REAL. All too often, that's how death comes, suddenly and without meaning or context. :(

I don't think Anya's coming back. I mean, she was practically cleaved in two. Not much that even Willow's magicks can do about that...
