I cant beleive Xander wan't in Conversations w/dead ppl! He's been in 128 epsiodes, every single one, then he's just left out, WITH anya for the THRID time in the last 12 eps. In the same week BOOK was left out of Firefly which has been only a couple episodes in.

How can Nick Brendon/Xander just be left out like that??? I feel so heartbroken

If you know anyone that can help my screenwriting career, please help! And yes, I am self-advertising here. Hehehe, me such a little devil.

LIVINGIMPAIRED

They've done it before. Being a main character does not mean that you will be in every episode. Spike was not in "The Body." "Inca Mummy Girl" was sorely lacking in Angel goodness. Cordy went AWOL in a few episodes while she was on BTVS, as well as last year on Angel. Sometimes they make an artistic choice to leave a character out.

Is it just me, or has Xander gotten remarkably LESS attractive this season? Not that I ever thought of him as a "Hello, Salty Goodness" kinda guy... but this year he seems to be definitely running low on the pretty.

Which leaves us with Spike as the only attractive boy on the show now.

(speaking of which, I watch every Tuesday night with a room full of gay men... the scene last night where Anya is sneaking in to search for clues, and Spike is sleeping naked, just barely covered up... Several discussions/arguments broke out around the room about the hotness of Spike, and the hurt feelings that their boyfriends don't look at them the way they look at James Marsters... That in and of itself was hysterical to watch.)

But back to my original point.... We seem to be left with very little eye-candy this season. Pretty much Spike and Willow are the only cute ones anymore. Maybe that is the REAL apocalypse... The "big bad" has taken to smacking people around with the ugly stick!

Well, although they've never left her out COMPLETELY, they have had several where she was barely in them at all.

Bewitched,Bothered and Bewildered she spent most of the episode as a rat.

Bargaining Pt. 1 she was only in the episode for the last couple seconds, and she didn't have a single line... it was just her corpse reanimating.

Gone she was invisible, so while she had lots of voice work, she only had a scene or two when she was actually on screen.

POSSESSION

I'm not a writer, but I'm assuming that it was much needed to leave Xander and Anya out of the episode. While some episodes, like the previously mentioned "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" had Sarah as a rat for almost the whole episode, she was atleast somewhat needed for the plot line.

In all honesty, I don't think Xander and Anya could have contributed to the plot in any which way. I mean, the episode was title "Conversations with Dead People" for a reason.

REXRAYGUN

Xander hasn't had much to do all this season, though. It feels like the writers just don't know what to do with him anymore. The biggest things he's done were to break a talisman in the season premier, and to be a jerk to Anya and a nag about Spike. He used to be my favorite character, but he's pretty painful to watch these days.
