Hello Firefly/Serenity people! I hope it's not being to pluggy to post a self-composed ditty on here, but it is very TV and film related and has a special reference to all things Fillion at the end. Plus it's the only song I've played live so far where I didn't make any mistakes. The girlfriend on piano did so she has been fired!

As it seems just about possible that Avengers will do fairly well at the box office, would that increase the chance of a Serenity sequel?

Need....to....go...slightly....faster (but then, I couldn't play that fast if I had a 100 years :wink:)...otherwise very nice!!... Were ya playing that in a church? Thought I saw a pew in there...

No FF, No Serenity, Just Castle :crap: I feel ya bro...

As always, we keep our fingers crossed. Even if the bones start to fuze together that way :knife:

Thank you for those kind words! There is a story behind the speed of the song. I've only recently got back into writing music after an unfortunate dalliance with serious illness made me realise that song-writing is what I should have been doing for the last 15 years rather than teaching people to fly, but that's another story.

The idea for the song came to me a few weeks ago when unusually high levels of solar flares had the media in England telling us that we had a chance of seeing the Northern Lights much further south than is normally possible, so off I blundered up into the dales, only to be thwarted by the clouds. "No stars" meant "no Northern Lights", and the rest of the song was written on the way home. I'm also new to making videos, but I thought I had a good idea for this one and used computer trickery to speed up Serenity 64 times, and then recorded the song at an appropriate speed so that they fitted together. Having done that, I thought I'd better e-mail Universal to seek their permission to do it, and received a very polite "no", along with the helpful suggestion to find something in the public domain that can be edited in such a way.

(This is getting longer than I had hoped!). A quick trawl through cyberspace revealed that the infamous Plan 9 from Outer Space (the story of the film is told in Tim Burton's Ed Wood) is in the public domain, so I down-loaded it and speeded it up 32 times, and that left me needing to record the song so that it lasted 2:20. If you haven't seen Plan 9, it is brilliantly awful, and you can see it without wasting 75 minutes or so here:

Probably best to read the warnings before watching it though!

p.s. Before I say anything imcriminating, what is the general opinion on here of Castle? We only get it here on cable and we're a bit behind on the rest of the world! Cheers!

Missed a bit - it was in the back room of a bar in the scenic town of Otley in West Yorkshire, but quite a few of our older disused churches have been turned into bars, so you never know!
