GROMBRINDAL

Big Damn Idiot.

--------------

What's this? A comic? And is that Serenity?

You bet it is! In celebration of Firefly's tenth anniversary, Harry, JLBlue and I are proud to bring you Cowboys & Cruisers, a comic about cowboys! And, uh, cruisers!

Based on the ever-popular Firefly, Cowboys & Cruisers is a screencap webcomic in the vein of Darths & Droids. Although similar in style and format, Cowboys & Cruisers will hopefully prove to be a unique comic in its own right.

Without further ado, here's Episode 1: Big Damn...

(If you like the comic, feel free to pass the word on to fans. Or support us on deviantArt: http://cowboys-and-cruisers.deviantart.com/ Or something.)

(In)Frequently Asked Questions

What am I looking at here?

Cowboys and Cruisers is a webcomic created, written, and produced by the Big Damn Idiots known as Harry Monster, Jlblue, and Grombrindal, using screencaps from Joss Whedon's Firefly (in this case, still frames snipped from the TV show) and arranged as a comic.

I've seen this before! Isn't this what Darths & Droids does?

Indeed it is, and it's what DM of the Rings did before it. Much like the Comic Irregulars, we've been inspired (although in this case primarily by D&D) to give a screencap comic of our own a shot. What better source material to use than Firefly?

Does that mean Firefly doesn't exist in the world of the comic?

Yep. We're gonna go with the same approach the CI team does with a number of other shows and films, too - Aliens, Star Wars, Star Trek... they may or may not exist. If it isn't mentioned in the comic, it remains in a state of flux. Think of it as Schrodinger's Canon.

If this is just a ripoff of Darths and Droids, why should we read it?

Good question. We like to think that we'll be able to create our own unique comic, using the framework Darths & Droids and DM of the Rings have set in place. Although the format is similar, our characters and plots are very different, and hopefully we'll be able to create a comic that stands out from the source material.

When do you guys plan to update?

We'll likely update on Thursdays to begin with, hopefully expanding to two days a week as we find our legs.

Where can I see more?

We'll be posting this on deviantArt to start with. Maybe we'll end up expanding to our own site if the comic's a hit. Who knows?

Click a link or else there will not be more comics! Without your love, how can an artist go on?

Ooh, I like this idea. Firefly as people playing in an RPG. No better way to play with storymaking tropes. I'll check it out when I get home.

Ha! Like it. Mal as the reckless guy in the party. And a Jurassic Park reference. The book sequels were good, not so much the movies.

Haha, Perfect. Mal actually would consider trying to take over the ship. And Kaylee would have to intervene with something SANE.
