Anyone watching?

It has it's ups and downs, mostly ups for me - like a few other Netflix originals I am hooked to the end (only 8 eps). I think the actors are pretty amazing, not unlike the actors in Strange Things. Maybe young people watch so much TV/Movies that it's almost second nature?
Brit Maling is an interesting person - I root for indy film people and she seems to have found a niche. Mostly character and story driven mysteries, short on effects and big names. I thought "Sound of My Voice" was definitely worth a rental.

Next: Black Mirror. The first ep was a riot, so Brrrrutish.

MOOSE

Saw ads for it, but I'm working through Black Mirror as well right now. It'll be next up, though.

The OA

“Having gone missing seven years ago, the previously blind Johnson returns home, now in her 20s and her sight restored. While many believe she is miracle, others worry that she could be dangerous.”

Black Mirror will mess with your head. In many ways. They remind me of a modern Twilight Zone, but for adults. Things you have thought in passing, but actually visualizing them has an effect you don't expect. Bring tissues for "Be Right Back" episode...

Finished OA finally (my wife bailed after the 3rd ep and then decided to come back and finish it - happens!).

But first... I used to be one of those entitled media watchers. The kind that feels entertainment OWES me a well told story and anything less is a sin. I dropped that years ago though. It happened after I tried to make things and was on the set of a few movie productions (low low budget and not for theaters, more instructional. No! They were clean! Shame...). In a nutshell: it's really really hard to make films/tv! It's even hard to make bad movies. The effort from so many people... is intense and immense. So anyway, on some level I applaud anyone who creates for a living.

Having said that... the OA ending? I will let Wired say it for me:

https://www.wired.com/2016/12/the-oa-finale-discussion/

Overall I'm glad I watched it even if I feel a little bit cheated and mystified by the end. I have not read forum responses so maybe there are clearer heads out there to unravel it better, but like a Wired writer said, "We should depend on the writers to give us great writing, not the audience."

Plenty of good from it though. The actors - again I can't say enough. Also to Netflix for being this amazing beast of a production house.
