Yes, it is only the second Monday in October but that means that it is Turkey Day in Canada.

So have a good day everyone.

Oh hey, BRENDA! You beat me to the punch! I was going to post this tomorrow!

A very, very happy T-day from one of your internet family members! I'm bringing the turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie and .... of course... the whipped cream!

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Let me chime in and add to the good wishes! Have a great T-day, Brenda.

Trump is not the problem. He set himself against the Deep State's agenda. And the Deep State's been heading for WWIII for years.
As for you, you're just a Deep State useful idiot, furthering its agenda. So I hope you enjoy cesium in your coffee. You've earned it.

Pumpkin is more a fruit to me. And truthfully I don't like it. But that's just me.

I have some brussell sprouts and potatoes to go with my supper today.

Squash is a veg. You are correct and they are part of the "Three Sisters" grown in the US by some tribes. The others being beans and corn.

Not happy with the Columbus Day tag, JSF.

Is Pumpkin the only Squash you consider to be fruit?
And corn is a grain, right?

What a topic. Beans are legumes, like peanuts. Legume is French, apparently translated as "vegetable"
But botanically, beans are fruit, as are all legumes. As well as all gourds, including Pumpkin.

Yes, pumpkin is the only Squash that I consider a fruit and yes corn is a grain because you can make flour out of it. Like oats, wheat and rye.

Botanically that makes a lot of sense because of where their seeds are.

I'm sure they did.

A grain technically is the seed of a grass.

Wheat

oats

rye

barley

and even rice

are very obviously grasses, but other grasses aren't as obvious, like corn, bamboo, and sugar cane.

Other plants have seeds that are cooked into porridge or ground into flour, like

buckwheat

quinoa

and amaranth

but since these aren't grasses, technically, they're not grains.

Around the world there are myriad grains that people eat, besides the ones we're familiar with. They include

teff

millet

and Job's tears
