I have taught courses on introductory media history, digital media and culture, the representation of physical disability, video art, fandom studies, Lost, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. My writing focuses on the work of Todd Haynes, spoilers, Glee, Joss Whedon, and Jane Espenson. I have written for the journals In Medias Res, Slayage, and Transformative Works and Cultures, along with the anthologies Buffy Goes Dark, Battlestar Galactica: Finding the Way Home, Supernatural Youth, Buffy in the Classroom, and Buffy and Angel Conquer the Internet. Along with his writing on film and television, I appeared in Playing Columbine, the 2008 documentary directed, edited, and produced by Danny Ledonne that chronicles the history of the game “Super Columbine Massacre RPG!”. I currently serve as the editor of Watcher Junior, a peer-reviewed journal of undergraduate scholarship on Joss Whedon.
