A quick work-up of a medical logo I saw on a prop from SERENITY.

Looks too Trek like. Most Starfleet emblems are shaped exactly like that.

One example:

Well, if we're talking Academy... probably would look a little "Trekkie"

shiny.

Uh....why? The Feseration and the Alliance have almost nothing in common. The alliance is a view (Joss') of facist government. The Federation is a utopian ideal (Roddenberry's) of Socicalism. Unrealistic, yes, but noble in cause.

The sad reality is, someone involved in the movie, got lazy and decided to steal a graphic idea from Trek.

MacBaker:

Still, it was on a Serenity prop, but I see what you're saying. I was quietly thinking the same thing myself.

Still, like most things in the 'verse, someone else thought of it first. Firefly is rooted in "The Killer Angels", for example, so here we are! :)

I usually don't respond to someone hiding behind the Anon handle, but there's a big difference between the Illuminati symbol or coat of arms (not a logo) which is a true triangle, and the logo design used here. The points are rounded, and a bold edge line is used just like the Trek design. It's also a true "LOGO" with a simple two color design, again just like Trek logo.

Given all of the unique logos normally used in Firefly (BLUE SUN!!!) this logo was a lazy ripoff! At the very least, the designer could have added a Chinese character or two, and changed the shape a little more.

Here's a better example:

Take this logo

and then add this logo

And tada, Serenity movie prop logo! It's pretty obvious!

A few more Trek logos, using the same shape and simple design:

MOONLIGHT

Apparently we're all forgetting the column in the morgue in Ariel that wasn't even changed from when they got it from the prop rental place - the Trek "computer interface" was clearly visible on it.

Still, I'd like to see a vectorized version of this emblem. No matter how "cliched" it might be, it's still pretty shiny.

The column in Ariel was more excusable, TV budgets and all, but a BDM and the prop dept. couldn't come up with an original looking verse type logo?

I do agree that TenthCrewMember did a nice job on this, just wish it was more Firefly canon, not Trek canon.

STARSONG

Well, for what it's worth, the guy who did these images also did a lot for the later Star Trek shows, so I'm not too surprised at the similarity.

And I'd argue that the Alliance and the Federation actually DO have a lot in common. The Alliance also is based on a utopian vision, everyone so cultured and well "cared for." Joss just shows us the underbelly of such a society we don't see in Trek.

(It's been ages since I've seen Trek, but I seem to recall the Federation also wasn't too keen on letting some border planets go their own way once upon a time, and was more than willing to fire on 'em. )

HAPPY INDEPENDENTS DAY!
Because I could. :)

Captain Castle
A fellow Browncoat, goes by Watcho, was telling me how her sister was now watching Firefly because of Nathan Fillion in Castle. She retorted with "He was my Captain before he was your Castle", and lo, a new design was born in that moment. You can find this design in the old TCM SPACE BAZAAR at: http://www.cafepress.com/10thcrew/743568 or, if you're handy with an iron, as your legend tells, print it out and iron it on your own self. Enjoy!

Apples to Griswolds
Been out of the (game making) world a while, but I got a request late last year from a very dear friend, so I am making it a reality for them...and you! This is just the teaser. And there will be at least be at one rule in my version there isn't in the original Apples to Apples game. All I'll say is there'll be a little...*pop* ;)

Also, at the behest of fans, both past and current, I'm only doing this up in grayscale in order to go easy on printing because there'll be A LOT of cards, and I don't want to eat up folks' printer ink.

Firefly Valentines (blast from the past)
More of the same, only different. ;)

Firefly Valentines (blast from the past)
Dug these up, made 'em years back. Sharing again for you!
