What do you do when your friends are being stupid?

Have you ever been a friend to someone that just will not get on w/ their life? Someone who is less than 5 classes from graduating college and moving on to a successful career, but chooses to remain in a young, drunken, narcotic-saturated lifestyle? I know many people know what I'm talking about, but what do you do? Am I supposed to just watch my friend, who has become closer than a brother to me, waste his life away? If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

I know exactly how you feel. My best friend dropped out of school one semester away from graduating. I wish I could tell you that we had a nice talk and I motivated her enough to get her life back together, but that wasn't what happened. Instead, we went out drinking, I felt brave enough to tell her that I felt she was wasting her potential, and now we don't talk. Go figure. In my case, I maybe should have kept my big mouth shut, but every situation is different. Maybe your friend could handle a wake-up call.
