Cities in Space

I have always loved the design of the Alliance ships like the IAV Dortmunder. Cities in space that just bristle with power. I never understood why the Star Destroyers in Star Wars needed to be aerodynamic, so I was really glad that the biggest things in the 'verse are so wonderfully monolithic.COMMENTS: 3

I agree, the design always really caught my eye and made me think about the ship. But what does IAV stand for if anyone knows. I always assumed Interplanetary Alliance Vessel or something.

Hmmm. You don't need to be aerodynamic but I'm sure there are advantages to having your centre of mass a bit more central on your ship when it comes to manoeuvring
Please note like all good (read typical) Englishmen I just got back from the Pub and my physics is hazy right now
I do like the look of the Alliance Cruisers though
