My five year old was up way too late tonight and was begging for a story. I told him that it simply was too late at night to spend another 20 minutes reading him a story. Instead I offered to sing him a song.He procedes to crawl up into my lap.
"Sing Firefly for me, mommy..."
Granted, it's not bedtime song material, but simply the fact that he WANTED it made mommy's day.

That's so sweet.
I once played an infant to sleep. Several years later, his mother, nostalgic for that event, asked if I would play the same child (now a toddler) to sleep again. The minute I took out my fiddle he sat up in bed, wide-eyed and far from sleep. Doh!
