Why all the slash?

I'm not homophobic. I don't see anything wrong with two gays being together, but what is up with all of the slash on some of these fanfic sites? Like "Firefly's Glow". Fair to say that half of it is slash. I've been looking for Mal/Inara fics and I stummble on to this huge archive. First time in the Firefly 'Veres mind you. I didn't know what all of the slang meant. So I open a few and suddenly they start to discribe something that really don't turn me on... Jus' askin', why? And maybe someone could point me in the direction of somemore fanfic sites, that would be great. :)COMMENTS: 2

If you only want to read Mal/Inara fics, the best place for you to start might be http://community.livejournal.com/mal_inara/. Livejournal has a lot of firefly fiction communities, and many of the members here also post there. There are separate communities for each of the various relationships, as well as several for stories involving the whole crew. Generally, the slash stories are either in separate communities, or are labeled as such, so you shouldn't stumble into them unknowingly.

And to answer the big question (possibly): cuz it was a posibility that Joss & co. could have used if the series had continued. Lord knows he could have surprised with a gay or lesbian coupling had the series been given a bit more time to develop. Plus it's fantasy...live out your desired pairings and hookup scenarios vicariously;)
