How I met summer glau this week / aka my best day ever

I’m starting to think I have actual magic powers. Or maybe wish-granting plank. Point is, this just doesn’t happen on one’s ordinary, run-of-the-mill luck. Atleast, not to me.

Ok, so I know, plenty of you folk have met cast members, but this still feels tell-worthy because a) random circumstances, not at a convention b) the- the random ness of it! And- gah! Y’know? Ok, so I’ve alienated half of you- bear with me, im just excited is all.

So, background: I’m from Madison, WI, and I was in LA (from last Tuesday ‘till today, Sunday) to visit an uncle.

On Thursday we went to the Universal park where, oh yes, there was the mule. I seem to recall someone posted pics a while back, but it’s moved since then, so I’ll post mine in a bit.

Ok, so we get back from the park, I’m pretty much in a state of joy and contentment, perfectly willing to endure the evening’s entertainment- a classical music concert in the Hollywood bowl, something I had no particular interest in.

On the way up to the bowl, my dad asks me which of the cast I’d want to see, and I say Summer, without hesitation.

So were at the bowl, our seats are way up at the top and at the far left side. So I’m looking around, and- say, that woman looks awefully like summer…. Nah, it can’t be. But wait, we are in Hollywood and all… and she lives in, what, Burbank?

So of course, I spend the first half of the concert switching back and forth between two lines of thought:
1) Is It Her? (accompanied of course by both frequent glances over my shoulder, and much would-be ‘logical thinking’; i.e., is it reasonable that she would be here, would summer be wearing those cloths, would summer have her hair like that, etc)

2) What Would Happen If It Was? Which of course I came up with no reasonable answers to, as most thoughtpaths quickly digressed into fantasy-relm… ahhh, fantasy relm…

aaaanyway, at intermission, my dad, to my horror, goes to find out by taking a quick walk past her general area; he later tells me that he DIDN’T think it was her. but, before he gets back, SHE gets up to go to the bathroom, and walks RIGHT by- not more then a foot or two away.

So I say: s-summer?

She turns: yes?

At which point my brain pretty much shut down to the “fire bad. Tree pretty. Summer pretty” level;

fortunately, no one told my mouth, which had the presence of mind to ask if maybe I could have a picture? She says yes, I go and fumble in my mom’s purse for the camera; when I’ve got it, she has come back up the steps to stand at the top of our set of seats.

Sooo, I go to take it, and she says something like “don’t you want to be in the picture with me?”

<=== I mean, how ‘bout that!?!?! Just offeren’ herself up like that. So I go stand next to her… and she takes a step closer, and puts her arm around me

ladys and menfolk, I’ve just died of pure and overwhelming joy. I went to cloud nine and didn’t come back till- actually, I’ still there, we’ll see if I ever get down.

So my dad gets off a couple pictures, before she-

-stays to chat. I mean, not all intermission or anything (she was on the way to the bathroom), but a good couple of minutes. Asked my name and where I was from and all (oh! Oh! And she said she liked my name! Ok, so maybe she tells everyone that… but probably not! Shiny, no?).
and we talk a bit about what she’s got commin up. Best 5 or 10 minutes of my life.

y’know how everyone comes back from conventions talking about how nice summer is? It’s the case; she’s just GREAT. I mean, c’mon, how many actresses would so willingly take a picture with you and stay around to chat and all? She’s simply the very best.
