I'm not any kind of expert in this. What I know is entirely borrowed from other people who have showed me how to add links, mouse-overs, and other formatting. Mainly mal4prez.
A while ago, mal4prez posted an excellent formatting document / thread. I use it all the time to format my fics. The document is under mal4prez (if there's any difficulty located m4p, you can find her in the BSR under B for Back Stories), called "I am not a fic". I'm going to go find the thread and bump it.
To add links, I use the following:

I've found that while italics and bolds and such work just fine if I type them in, the mouse-overs and links are squirrelly unless I copy and paste them from one that I know works. So I just copy and paste and alter only the specific number or text.

Thanks, Ebfiddler. Turns out, my the "a href" all became capitalized long ago when the website went through a re-boot. Now all my links look like nothing but code. Anyway, thanks again. Glad to know I was on the right path....
